Help！Is there any way to backup SMS messages from iPhone to computer?

Hi
Is there any way to backup all my SMS messages from iphone to computer?
I want to save them and then erase them off the phone.
Really appreciate ur early reply! I am quite helpless now!

The backup/sync process via iTunes backs up the SMS messages. The caveat being there is no way to manage them or restore only SMS messages back to the device at a later time.

There is an application for Windows called Tansee iPhone Transfer SMS that lets you back up SMS messages and manage them on your computer. But again, no way to restore only SMS to the device, at least in the free version.

This is a great app. I believe you can use the full features without paying for some period of time. I ended up buying the app to support the developer.

i think they all save when you do a backup. when my Iphone was exchanged from apple i installed my backup i had all my SMS messages back.

iTunes will backup everything on the iPhone, including SMS messages and contacts.In iTunes, with the iPhone selected on the left, click the Info tab and make sure Contact syncing is enabled.Besides,there is a article about How to transfer SMS from iPhone to computer, which can help you transfer SMS from iPhone. Hope it worked for you so much.

The OP wants to save them THEN erase what is on their iPhone. On the next iTunes backup, they would be gone for ever. Phone View allows you to get the messages and other stuff off and put them somewhere else.

This is a case where the built in backup does not work.

Hey there. Several folks in my office use the decipher text message software which lets them save all their iPhone text messages to their computer. They all seem to like it and it seems quite easy to use. Not bad for $9.99. :-)

PhoneView works well, assuming the messages are on your phone, however I've wanted a feature that backs up/syncs SMS messages to your computer (or iCloud) to create a message history every time you sync your phone (or in real-time for iCloud) in much the same way that chat clients can save chat history and sadly this feature is lacking from iOS and iCloud.

Haven't heard about phoneview before, will give it a try for sure. Currently I use iPhone SMS to computer transfer to transfer my iPhone SMS to PC and it works. Another good software to backup iPhone contacts is copytranscontacts.

Most of the iPhone users use iTunes and iCloud to backup data including SMS messages. For 3rd party programs, phoneview works but does not support messages to iphone restoring. Another one called iPhone SMS Backup & Restore is also a good choice which supports both backup and restore.

Just make sue to backup your iPhone with iTunes by syncing it, then restore the backu to your new iphone. Here are some basic steps and screenshots of how to backup iphone sms text messages.

If you don't plan on buying a new iphone or simply want to view your backed-up SMS messages directly on your PC, you would need to use some third-party utility to backup your iPhone messages.
