How to add or edit contacts on new iPhone 4?

I can't believe I am asking such a basic question, but the only way for me to add a contact is by entering the number on the keypad and selecting add contact. Once A new contact has been added, it won't let me edit it. Meaning that there is no edit button on the contact screen and no add button on the contact list. Anyone else experiencing this?

I am having the same problem after having installed iOS 4 on my 3GS. I tried restoring the original settings and reinstalling the software, but no luck. Literally yesterday, I had the little plus sign and could add and edit contacts just fine. Today, nope,

Tap contacts then tap + in top right corner

and to edit it, open up the contact and press edit.

Another way to add a contact is any time you get an email, phone call or text, touch the email address, the phone number or the arrow next to either and then click create new contact.

Actually, my problem was I had a MS Exchange email address setup to use contacts. Therefore it took away the plus sign and edit feature on the contacts. I disabled it and everything reappeared. I was so confused since I was comparing it my iPhone 3G and iPad. Everything works fine now.

I fixed it - just had sync contacts with icloud

Try Changing your settings on the phone by going to settings: Mail, Contacts,.....tab then changing your account type to from my pc, then go back to phone: Contacts, click the plus in the right hand corner....proceed to ender information the click done........

You can try using some 3rd party application such as copytrans Contacts in order to add contacts from your computer to your iPhone or to edit iPhone contacts directly from your PC.

To add contacts to your iPhone from your computer, simply drag the contact entries to the program window



To export contacts from your iPhone to your computer, drag the entries from the program window to a folder on your computer.
