I ordered mine in store 10-7-11 4pm PDT. It went off "back-ordered" on Saturday as I posted previously. Just got an email that it is shipping and should arrive by 3pm PDT on Tuesday the 25th. Shipping from Texas to the Bay Area, CA. I hope many of you will experience the same thing soon.

at&t finally credited my bill for the data plan and additional line fees while i have no phone, so that is a little less stress.

I know they told me that AT&T gets in shipments on Tuesdays and Thursday so I am hoping my phone ships next week.

Good news! I ordered on 10/10 and jus trecieved my shipment tracking info. My 4S arrives on 10/25.

15 days form order to delivery versus the 21-28 days quoted.

I wish others a similar outcome.

My back-ordered column went to zeros on Saturday and it said pending or whatever in the rightmost column for a day or so. About a day later, I got an email saying my order had shipped, so I wouldn't keep checking the order status page until you get an email. Best of luck.

I ordered Iphone 4s 16gb White, on 15th October 11. Ordered Galaxy S2 for my wife at the same time. Got S2 on Wednesday but Iphone order still shows back order. Looking at earlier posts, I am started thinking about cancelling my order and getting galaxy s2 for me as well.

If your corporate discount is only for service, then yes they can. I have a corporate discount on my line and upgraded my hardware a number of times at both ATT with non-iPHones and at Apple with iPhones. If you get some discount on hardware, then maybe not but an Apple Store employee will be able to know for sure as they check your eligibility and price during the sales process. As for setting up your discount the first time, you can do that after you setup your line. It may or may not be there on your first bill. But that is proabaly the case either way as this is what they tell you when you add the discount to your line.

Thanks for the information. I just assumed I had to go through AT&T directly for this (I admit this was completely my bad). Yeah my discount is only on service. I hope that my first bill is adjusted correctly since they've had over 2 weeks to process this and everytime I try and register my account on AT&T's website it directs me to the premier site, which says that I can't register since my number is not in service yet (since I don't have my phones yet). Thankfully our Retail Rep did that correctly. I'd hate to get a bill for service that I can't even use yet. I feel for anyone fighting with that. Still I have learned my lesson, I will not be ordering phones from AT&T directly ever again.

Ordered White iPhone 4s 16gb 4:00pm on Oct 7th (launch day) and STILL backordered! Just curious as to other in the same boat as me what kind of phone you ordered. Makes me ill to read about people ordering their phone over a week after I did and getting their phone in the mail. I'm happy for them they got what they ordered but when they tell you in the store you'll get your PRE-ORDERED phone on the 14th and it's STILL backordered over two weeks later, it's more than frustrating. Enough so I will never go through this process again. And I for sure won't give the girl who sold me the phone any more of my business!

Well, it's not the "girl's" fault certainly.

Apple really should be shipping thier biggest carrier phones before stuffing thier own Apple stores and no one should have walk-in phones until the pre-orders are full. I know "lunch day' is a promo, but other then that there is simply nothing 'pre' about htese orders.

My husband went with Verizon, ordered his phone days after me, and he just got his shipping notice. He'll have his phone Tuesday or Weds.

I ordered with AT&T Oct 8th, white 16gb, ordered in store and still backordered. They estimated I'd have a phone before the 20th.

"Pre-ordered" obviously doesn't mean "on time delivery". I have friends who walked into the store AFTER launch day and walked out with an iphone 4s. I am still waiting on mine, and the worst part is my wife is waiting for my 3gs hand-me-down. She's just as anxious as I am. I will certainly not pre-order again. This has been a wonderful learning experience as far as patience is concerned, and this is not a skill I wanted/needed to practice.

It's not entirely the girl's fault... but when she says "oh don't worry about that 14-21 days part" that's just a formality... that tells me she knew very good and well that phone wasn't coming on launch day.

I agree. The sales people at ATT knew we wouldn't get our phones on the 14th. Or at least that the chances were slim.

I ordered two-a white 16 for me and black 16 for my husband. Mine still shows backordered but his is ready to be shipped. No tracking info yet.

Spoke to ATT phone rep who said store folks get commission and are likely saying whatever to probably make the sale. Phone reps don't get commission.

Hello everyone. I am in the same predicament as everyone else. I pre-ordered a white 64GB on the 7th at around 4 PM, and have been backordered since. Although I am equally as frustrated as everyone else (especially since this is my first iPhone and I was very excited to receive it, hence the preorder), I can't really fathom blaming AT&T, especially my sales rep. While I am frustrated that I still do not have a phone and wish we could possibly receive a little more communication from AT&T, perhaps just to provide a glimmer of hope, I am most frustrated with Apple. Apple is responsible for shipping phones from themselves to AT&T, and while AT&T did underestimate the number of preorders they would have, Apple's website is now boasting that you can reserve your phone online after 9 PM and pick it up in the store the following day. Clearly, they are more interested in preserving their own name than they are serving their customers. It makes them look worse if someone walks into an Apple store and can't walk out with an iPhone than it does if someone preordered a phone from AT&T on the 7th and still haven't received their phone. Although I wish I already had my phone, I'd rather give Apple a piece of my mind than AT&T.

I live near Charlotte, NC and pre-ordered on Saturday October 8th at 1pm a 16G black and 16G white. The rep told me it would be 14-21 days and so did the email I received later in the day. She also told me I could possibly pick one up sooner if i wanted to wait in line Friday the 14th. Whether there was a line or not, i don't know cause I was working and didnt goto the store. Both the phones are still on backorder, but i assume that will change the next couple of days.

Im 50/50 on AT&T's preorder practice as one would assume the point of the preorder would be to receive it the day of release. It was obvious they were preselling to get "guaranteed" sells, then sell the majority of phones received on release day in the store. I don't know the numbers off-hand, but if they could presell 1 million phones, ship to 200k for release day, then sell 1 million in stores and have the other 800k wait 2-3 weeks for additional units to be manufacturered that can be perceived as deception.

I do not think it is ethical for me to call AT&T and ask for a discount or money off, since I was told the time-frame both verbally and in written format. So the 8th is when i ordered and with 14-21 days i should get it by the 29th, but there is an asterick that says:

*The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, and completion of other required AT&T business processes.

I do think with the given circumstances I would feel comfortable calling AT&T on halloween if my two phones are on backorder still, but not before then.

This isn't as simple as it sounds as the Apple Store Online is flooded with traffic and the majority of the iPhones are unavailable.

Even though some are purchasing phones after the debut. Keep in mind the holidays is just around the corner, so this makes it even more challenging to buy and retrieve the iPhone 4S.

The best thing to do is to order from them (Apple Store) online and receive your iPhone within their 1-2 week time frame. I know this well...

I'm sure that AT&T knew exactly how many phones they would have available for shipment on the 14th, and I'm also sure they knew that they were going to receive more pre-order requests than available phones. In my opinion, they should have stopped taking pre-orders as soon as they ran out of phones. If that had been the case, I would have NOT been able to pre-order, and I would have instead stopped by my local apple/AT&T store and bought one. I would have had a phone on the 14th, but instead, I must wait probably 2-3 more weeks. Alternatively, they could give their customers the option to cancel pre-orders. If I had the option to cancel, once again, I would be able to buy one locally right now, rather than waiting almost a month. So, in my opinion, the blame mostly falls on AT&T -- not Apple.

I agree 100% with wisaac. The blame falls on AT&T. They should have stopped taking preorders. What's worst is I asked sales rep several times. " you're a 100% sure I will receive my phone on the 14th" He responded, "yes, you will receive it latest by end of day" He even stressed that I will receive a confirmation email stating it will ship in 14-21 days, but just to ignore it as it is just stated for no reason.

I'm just posting to add to everyone else. I ordered my white iPhone 4s on Friday October 7th (first day) around 11am. I have been on backorder the entire time until 3 days ago, when it went from a 1 to a 0 in the backordered column. However my phone is still pending shipment. It is very frustrating to have been waiting almost 3 weeks for a phone that I pre-ordered, especially when I know many people on verizon who have gotten the phone, and others who have simply ordered through the apple store much later than myself and gotten their phone already. I am never preordering through AT&T again, I don't really care who's fault this is. I just want me phone....
