Is your iPhone 4S still listed as "backordered" [ Edited ]

I ordered my iPhone 4S at 930 am on October 7th, the rep told me it was going to be delivered to my house on October 14th. Here it is the evening of October 14th and the status is still showing backordered........... What gives...... you tell me to pre-order so I can make sure I have my phone on launch day then it stays in backordered status since day 1....... {link removed per guidelines}

Same here. I preordered the 16GB, and I went into the local store today to cancel my preorder and instead spend MORE for a 32GB that they had in stock, but they fed me a load of {word filter evasion} about not being able cancel orders after they have been processed, when I was told while preordering that I could cancel any time before it was SHIPPED. {word filter evasion} AT&T...

It does not seem to matter when or what time you preordered. My advice to you is keep calling and checking status. Some people are getting there that ordered on the 9th and some arent. Some people who ordered first thing on Friday still dont have theirs while others so. It's NOT a first come first serve as AT&T claims.

Yep. Ours looks just like yours. We ordered at 10:30 and 10:45AM PST on Friday 10/7, in-store. We were told at that time it would take 14-21 days to ship. STUPID.

i think thswas  the problem..i believe AT&T  fills how they are received this is what i was told.  example say your order number 35 so you have 34 orders before yor order that needs to be shipped.  a store employee told me this lastyear when the iphone 4 came out. i tryed a "PREORDER"  AFTER 15 minutes  and i could not place the pre order i  gave up. headed to the local apple store and they was sold out. but apple took my name and email placed me on a list with in 7 days i had my iphone 4. i never jump on the first release day  because of the problems  everyone is having right now.

and it seems everyone went for the 64GB model.  AT&T can only process so many and ship so many each day. a human can't work full speed to ship with out taking a break.

I received email notification that delivery would be on 10/14.  Got nothing.  Called 611 and waited for an hour.  First level support was useless, a rude to boot.  Got transferred to a manager (another 15 min delay).  Was told that I would get an email later on 10/14 with my Fed-Ex tracking number for delivery on 10/15.  Now the status no longer even says back-ordered.  Not looking too good for a delivery tomorrow.

ATT needs to get their act together.  I will be looking elsewhere.  Nice way to treat its customer base.  Perhaps Sprint or Verizon would be interested in my multiple accounts; ATT sure doesn't care...

My situation is exactly the same. I preordered the 16 GB white on 10/7 evening and found out my order status has never been changed -- In process, back-order, pending shipment, so I visited att store to cancel my preorder and tried to buy a 32GB black instead, they would not let me. I told them if I knew this happened, I would not place my pre-order last Friday. They told me it is gambling. I think att will lose their loyal customers.

Same here,preorder the phone in store on the 7th, i was told that the preorder can be cancelled anytime. went to apple store and they had plenty in stock, so got on the phone with AT&T customer care for the next three hours trying to cancel my preorder. After talking to three different agent and a superviser i was told they can not cancel my order. had to walk away from the store with no phone in hand. I thought AT&T is all about customer service, cant believe i cant cancel my unforfilled preorder.

I also ordered on the 7th before 1pm.  My status was backordered until this afternoon.  I called a rep this afternoon and she told me that it was showing that it would be shipped today with a delivery date for tomorrow.  As of now, I have received no tracking information.  I called again tonight and this rep had no idea where the other rep got her info. from b/c he wasn't showing a delivery date, but did say it was in the process of being shipped.  He did say that the system would be updated at 12 am central so the iphone could have shipped, but the tracking number hasn't shown up yet b/c the system hasn't updated.  I called FedEx and gave them my address and they were not showing a delivery scheduled tomorrow.  I guess we will see.  However, I have more faith in FedEx at this point.

I ordered at 7 AM on Friday and my status changed from backordered to processing at noon today. Then at 4 pm it changed to shipped. Sounds like they holding all the phones in TX and shipping them as fast as possible but obv they under estimated the pre order demand. Hold on guys. If u ordered on the 7th before late afternoon I'm sure you will get ur phone by next week Friday if not sooner.

I just wanted to say that I ordered my phone on the 7th, it was processed on the 9th and I was in backordered status until yesterday afternoon.  My phone is on the FedEx truck.................................out for delivery.  I think for those of you that had your backordered status changed are going to get your phones soon.

Same here. I preordered Black 32 early on 7th, processed on 8th. Status was "Backordered' and then I got an email a little after 6 pm CST yesterday that it had SHIPPED.  Tracking shows that it is out for delivery at the moment.

I ran to the store to in the am to 'pre-order' the phone only to now discover tha 'first come first served' means everyone else is served on the first day, and those that pre-ordered, come last!  If you order from Apple today on their website, you can still get the phone faster than what ATT have promised me on the 7th.  Its not worth the hassle for me to undo everything and I can live for a few more days.  Its the bungling and miscalculation that bugs me.  ATT doesnt think that people that made the effort on the 7th didnt expect their their phone to be delivered on the 14th, but 2 or 3 weeks later?

I pre-ordered a 4S white 64 gb on the 7th before noon in my local AT&T store. It is still back ordered.

I tried to get one yesterday afternoon (10/14) from the same store. They told me they cannot cancel pre-orders they made! They still had plenty of inventory! I could have one in my hands right now if I did not preordered, but since I preordered I'll have to wait 1 or 2 more weeks.

I wouldn't mind waiting if the store ran out, but knowing that the store had some and that I could not get one is so upsetting. I feel betrayed as a customer. If this does not get resolved soon, I am going to switch at the first occasion I have.

ATT&T you STINK, I pre ordered your Iphone 4s on launch day and you can't tell me any information about shipping or how long it's on back order after almost 2 hours on the phone! I'm not sure why i've stayed with you for 10 years, I think I need to visit SPRINT today....extremely frustrated with ATT&T's no-customer service approach to all of this...

Check this . . . I ordered a 4S 32GB from a store on October 7 while visiting the San Antonio area.  "Aaron Z" told me that the 16GB were already sold out, but the 32GB were still available and there would be no problem getting one by the 14th.  I told him the arrival date was critical because my 3G is failing and I need a replacement as soon as possible.  Turns out the 3G is barely functional now and my new phone is on backorder.  In the mean time my partner ordered a 16BG a few hours later on the 7th, but his arrived on the 14th as scheduled.  There is definitely something quirky with the queing/fulfilment of orders.  What really enrages me, however is that AT&T shipped these phones to their stores are handing these devices out on the street to anyone who walks in and pays for one rather than fulfilling pre-orders.  That does not pass the smell test for me.

@icebrg I agree with so totally! I am SO mad about this whole process. I also ordered mine in store on the 7th at 10am. I just checked my AT&T status again today and STILL BACKORDERED and processing. No other emails from AT&T, of course NO shipping information, nothing!! I am so ready to cancel my contract and go somewhere else. This is rediculous!!

i ordered last oct 7 and i think my order start processing on the 12. so until now its still back ordered and pending shipment. i regret pre-ordering here and now maybe it will take me 28days before i receive my phone. im frustrated and dont wnna order in att online anymore. this is my 1st preorder here and i just had a very bad experience :-(

hey guys im like the rest of the 1million at&t customers who are currently waiting for the iphone 4s to come in. i preordered an iphone 4s blk 32g early saterday(day after launch) and none of my shipping notifications have changed since then, which is my item is on back order. what sucks even more is that walked in to at&t authorized retailer friday night and they had a few left in stock -.- i was pretty mad lol. i ended up buying a ballistic sg case for the iphone 4gs while there. anyways, anyone have any idea when they should be shipping out?

I ordered mine on Oct 9th- Is it too much to ask for them to atleast give a projected date I will never pre-order anything from them again
