Losing service

Lost service on my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 for a good two hours, so I had no wireless network what so ever, then it came back on all of a sudden. Wondering why it did that. I'm in the Minneapolis area Thanks

Probably something wrong with the network, or a local cell tower?
