Problem with unlock iPhone

Hi! I bought my iPhone 4 on eBay few week ago. And now I heard that it can be unlock. So I wrote to at&t e-mail, but today received the answer, operator said that unlock refused because I am not AT&T customer. And seller not respond for my messages about previous owner of iphone.So there is no way to unlock my iPhone ? I am really don't now what to do it
please help me.

Become an AT&T customer.

Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to help you here. With the exception of a few AT&T employees working in an official capacity on these boards, we're all customers like you. If AT&T Customer Service has told you no, and the seller of the phone won't respond to your requests, then you have reached a bit of a dead end.

Exactly. The only options are to become an AT&T costomer and then request an unlock, or to jailbreak + unlock the device, which cannot be discussed here.
