on the sim card you got the phone on and just add the data plan to the other sim card?

Can you cancell the data plan on the line you got the iphone with, put in another lines sim card and add the data plan to this other line?

I would say put the other simcard in the new iPhone if it works, then try and call customer care and see if they can add the iPhone data plan to your line of service. ultimatly it cant hurt to try. As for the data plan, you are required contractually to have and maintain the data plan on the number that is using the iPhone at all times.

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12. You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF. Policy info HERE.

Where is Justin Timberlake when you need him?. I believe you would have to keep the data plan for at least a month, then cancel it before your next billing cycle begins.

I talked to an ATT Rep. today, and they said that yes, I would be able to "sell my iPhone to someone else", and they would simply be able to put their SIM card in and go.
She also said that you would have to transfer the IMEI over, so I'm not sure what that entails.

I don't know if this is the same thing...but my mom was eligible for an upgrade and I wasn't, so I originally put the iPhone on her line and AT&T switched it over to my line. Her contract was still extended, but in the end I got the phone.

There is not that much to it, if it is anything like Iridium satellite box updates.

im not sure if this pretains to yor problem but i was wonderin if some 1 could answere me this, so i was at best buy yesterday and a guy who worked in the phone depart ment said that i could add a line to my plan, get the upgrade price and get a phone (with 2 yr contract) and then in a certain timeperiod , cancel the line, canceling the contract w/o a fee and keep the phone, does this work???

NO, to avoid the fees, you must cancel within the first 30 days and return the phone. If you cancel after the first 30 days you owe the ETF. Also, Best Buy has their own contract with you and there might be other fees from them. Finally, if you cancel after the first 3 days but before 30 days are up, you still owe the activation fee.

The guy at Best Buy wanted the sale at your expense.

It starts at $175 and starts to go down $5/mo after two months. Best Buy and other non-corporate sellers may have their own fees on top of what ATT charges.
