Transferring contacts

Updated my phone and lost my contacts in the process. Tried the suggested solutions, using text messages, but unfortunately the contacts are still gone. Can I somehow use my old SIM card from my Motorola to transfer the contacts to my Apple 3GS iPhone. I notice there is a slot for a sim card on the top of the phone, but I'm afraid of putting it in there because I might make matters even worse!

Yes

Switch SIM Go to Mail, Contacts Import from Sim

Replace sim.

Alternately you can restore phone from backup in iTunes. ( if you used it).

Thanks for your help!!! Did some hunting on the net and also found the same answer from AT&T! Wonder why they didn't tell me that when I called for help yesterday?? Would have saved me loads of time, BUT, I'll know what to do next time if this happens again.

If you had exchange activated on your iPhone with contact sync enabled, you can also get your contacts from your email account. I would go for the SIM transfer though, as it is the most certain way to get back your contacts, at least the ones you had on your Motorola.
