When at home should I use 3G network or Wi-Fi connection?

Which one is better for my iphone if I'm using at home?

You can normally get faster speed using WiFi .. Downside it draws more power .. So its up to you .. I leave mine on when at the house and off when I leave and only use it if I'm in an area that has WiFi and I need to do heavy useage..

The 3G network takes the biggest toll on your battery life. Right now I have my 3G turned off, since 3G is mainly for data and not voice. Most of the areas i go to are WI-FI areas so i have no need to worry about connection speed. When i fall in an area w/o WI-FI and need a fast connection , I turn on my 3G and once I'm done I turn it right back off.

WiFi does NOT draw more power than 3G. If you are in a WiFi hotspot, use it! You get a faster connection and your battery lasts alot longer.

At the standard 1 cent/kb that AT&T charges everyone without a data plan, you only need to use more than 3MB of data to get your money's worth. And 3MB is not that much at all.

yea, 1cent/kb if u don't have data plan....so u don't use internet....but i pay $30? i rather use 100% of their 3g network....

So If im on wifi I can still use the phone capabilities? If so thank god, Im usually downstairs where theres no signal.

You cannot make calls over Wifi. That would still go over the AT&T network.

out of the box you cant make calls over wifi , I think there is an app where you can do it tho i am not sure what the name of it is, truephone or sometihng like that i remember reading about it a while ago.

I don't believe AT&T supports Wi-fi calls, the only US network that has would be T-mobile

iCall is not ready for prime time yet - wish it was. You can't download it, although it looks very cool. I'll get it when they release it, especially if it works as good as the video on their website shows.

Another post here says AT&T doesn't support wifi calls... huh? They can't regulate what I do over wifi. You can currently use the web based IM+Skype for the iPhone. I just don't like web based software.
