Can anyone recommend a good wireless FM transmitter for the iphone to use in a car? I am looking for one that also charges the iphone - I have tried one so far but it was weak and static kept bleeding through - no matter what channel I used.

Any will do. Buy an iPod charge fm transmitter and say no on the airplane mode.
You'll only get chirpings as the bad part subjected to either a universal fm transmitter or an iPod chargeable one. When the phone rings just unplug it and talk on the phone, then replug or they'll be chirping instead of talking.
I recommend getting a DLO intellisync. Push a button and it finds a clearer channel.

It's called the Griffin Roadtrip With Smartscan, and I reviewed it on Howard Forums:

Keep in mind that none of these devices offers really great performance. It's subject to all kinds of stray signals in the atmosphere when using the FM function. One nice thing about this unit is that it has a line out to vehicles that offer an auxiliary input. Using that, the sound is as good as it gets. That said, the FM performance is pretty good, and just as importantly, it's got a nice, safe, easy to use form factor. Charges quickly as well.
