still backordered!!!!
I ordered 2 16gig on 8th in store.... status never change since then....
I know they may out of stock now. But in last week even Monday this week, there still some in stock in certain stores (verified). Whey people ordered early could not get their phone?? And I was told by rep. that I cannot cancel my order which is BACKORDERED! What's the problem is that???

if you have ur iphone 4s already, then take a step back. I HAVE NO PHONE ! i was promised t have a phone on the 14th. im paying monthly for a phone i dont have. i just payd yesturday 137.85 $ for not using my phone and the upgrade to a phone i dont have. So dont come in here tryna act like ATT has no fault to this bc they do. OBV they do if you read the forums and see im not the only one complaining about lies, and horrible way att is treating customers. -________________-

I am confussed? You still have your old phone that works? If so, why are you not using that one to make your calls? Your monthly fee is for service and not for the phone. No I am not trying to defend ATT with the delays. While it may be too late unless you can cancel, I always order or buy my iPhones from Apple.

Make sense, Sorry about that. Call ATT and see if you can suspend your account without loosing any grandfathered services until you do get your phone. This way you will only pay the fee for a suspended account?

My status changed from backordered to this, don't know what it means, it still hasn't shipped. I ordered my phone in store, at 11:00 on Friday the 7th.

my mother went to our local at&t store the day of the release. they said they we're only taking pre-order/orders , so she ordered her iphone and mine. she told me they didn't give her any shipping details or tracking info but said it would arrive in 1 to 2 weeks and made her put a down payment of some sort. this was on friday 10/14. can we cancel our orders and just order it from a store with stock seeing as many people are complaining about the orders?

Got my pre order canceled!!!!
Pre Ordered my phone 10/7 about 5pm est. Got the original confirmation email a short time after.
Go to check my status as of 10/14 and order date states 10/8.
Called premier, was told order didn't process until 10/8 due to number of orders. What? Over at least 7 hours to process?? I was told order where going out 10/15 and 10/17 to check back.
So yesterday 10/17 got the premier email update still in process and no phone arrived. Called premier on hold for 30 min phone disconnects. Call again and on hold for an hour and then spoke with some foreigner, and she was extremely rude and nasty. Said she couldn't cancel my order. I asked her how ATT could compensate for promising my order on 10/14 and not delivering. All I got was sorry and I can't help. I said over and over she could cancel it and I wanted it done. Then she said uh I can hear you. You must call back, I told her not to hang up on me and she did.
I called 611 this time and got right through. Spoke with a csr that was able to review my account and confirmed I should've received my phone on 10/14. I explained my situation with the previous rep and she apologized. She first said should couldn't cancel. After several minutes of me complaining and saying I wasn't happy, she put me on hold to talk to her manager. She came back and said she could cancel my order. She did so and gave me a $15 credit to my account for the inconvenience.
People, cancel pre orders can happen no matter what those csr's say. Talk to a manager and get it done. She also said the the 16bg 4S is one of the most popular and the waiting time is about 28 days. So heads up to all yall waiting. Good Luck.

It means that your order is in progess but has not shipped yet. AT&T orders all typically say backordered until a phone has been allocated to the order, even if there is a warehouse full of phones available. Now, given the demand, there probably are no phones available in the warehouse, but that's as much a function of Apple (which does NOT typically carry any appreciable amount of inventory) as it is AT&T. AT&T can't call Apple up and say "ship us 100,000 phones, STAT!" because those phones don't exist yet. So it boils down to Apple has to make the phones, and then ship them to AT&T, before AT&T can ship them to you.

It's funny because I have been trying to cancel my order since yesterday. After being on the phone for hours and hours and getting the run around with them telling me to call different departments and I still have not be able to cancel my order. Nobody can do it. I guess its because they are loosing to many orders so they change there protocols on how they cancel orders. By the way I placed my order by calling ATT on phone. I guess I will have to keep using my slowwwwwwwwwwwwww 3g phone.
As I am typing I am speaking with rep and he will let me speak to there manager. Let me see what he can do for me and I will report back to you all. They are transferring me now to manager.

Did you order online later in the day on the 7th or afterward, or over the phone, or at a store? if so, then you're probably towards the back of the line, yes.

Those orders for some reason take a while to get into the processing queue relative to the ones placed on AT&T website. When they finally do make it in, they are behind all the orders that DID get in ahead of them.
In other words, your precedence is based on when your order makes it into the queue for processing, not necessarily when you placed it.

Yeah same thing happened to me. I think the guy totally wanted the sale and the re-sign into the 2 year contract. I can't believe there is a phone like I ordered on the shelf behind him and he won't let me cancel my pre-order and buy that one today. I'm pi??ed and will also NVER pre-order again. Hoping for the best and quickest shipment.

I'm in the same boat....this status hasn't budged nor have I been given ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY ORDER WHATSOEVER. This is after being promised a 10/14 delivery by the in-store sales person at AT&T. I have called CSR and they knew NOTHING AT ALL about the status of my order. I could have called Disney World and received more information...
Seriously this is one of the worst customer service experiences of my life.

Agreed, worse customer service on the planet, hands down. When we ordered on the 7th, at 11:00am PDT, they wrote 14-21 days on the order. We asked why? He said "oh, don't worry, we just have to write that in case there is a problem beyond our control, you will get your phone next Friday".

No matter how many times we call, or what we do or say, the jury is in and we will get the phones whenever. It is totally pointless, an excersise in futility! It is like talking to Borg Drones (Star Trek)... all you get from them is that they will asimilate you and resistance is futile... Ther's no reasoning or individuality within AT&T... Sorry, meant the collective...
This Reminds me of Seson 15 Episode 1 of Southpark when Cartmant tells his mother to pull of the road and get something to eat because he likes to be wined and dinned before he gets Screwed (he used the F word). We did not get any wine or food, we were screwed right out of the bat, no foreplay, and there is nothing we can do, just chill out and wait for the email or for the UPS/FEDEX truck to arrive.
No matter what we write her, iT IS POINTLESS! If you call The CRS you will geta nice story of how sorry are they but they can't do nothing about it! The latest story/justfication is that it is Apple's fault! I guess I missed the episode when Apple bought AT&T or it was the other way arround!! I guess I was asleep on that part!
This is sickening. Spare youself the pain and suffering and forget about this. Let's not get obsesive/compulsive with this Bravo Sierra, frankly it is not worth it. They are right, we are wrong and that is that. Logic and word meannings are ponitless here!!
Let's do something more productive with our lives... ".. life is too short for fuzzing and fighting my friends..."

agreed with 'jhvelez' we can post all the hate comments but this will not cause at&t to ship faster. yes it does suck is taken such a long time , but all we can do is wait ... kicking and screaming will not resolve issue faster...
i ordered my 4S 64 GB on the october 7 at around 11 40 am

I agree with jhvelez, also. Except, I believe that there is a point to posting here. It lets us all vent our frustrations and also, realize that we were not the only fools who did the wrong thing by pre ordering through AT&T. At least all of us know that we are not alone in this. I feel bad for all of those who ordered very early, 7 or 8 am for example, that still don't have their phone. That's even worse than if you waited until the afternoon / evening, like me.

I ordered my wife's iphone 4s 32gb black at 1pm on the 7th. Called yesterday for an update from the the CSR. The reply was: you should have your phone shipped in 10-28 days. I asked: 10-28 days from the 7th when I ordered it, or from now? CSR said: Now, I think...
Sounds really reassuring. The apple website is 1-2 weeks still on their website.
At least the CSR didn't have any problem canceling my order or canceling my upgrade, so I could order somewhere else. I am going to hold my place in the que though, because apple themselves may be facing the same problem in the near future.
At this rate it would be a miracle if it arrived by my wife's birthday. This was supposed to be a present! If anyone from AT&T is reading this.. my wife would be thrilled to get her present prior to the 26th of October! Thanks!
