My order status on the Premier site still shows "pre-order" but on the regular wireless tracking site it shows the following.  I checked it last night, and it still showed pending.  

However, I checked again tonight, and it's in the hands of Fedex in Ft. Worth, heading on an overnight flight to San Francisco.

I thought I'd have to wait another week or more, since I missed the start of the pre-order period.  Ordering on 12Oct11 was pretty late.

Best wishes everyone.  It's frustrating to wait.  Be patient and yours will come too.  Relax and treat the customer service people as you'd like to be treated.  There are a lot of things worse than having to wait for a VERY popular new product.

I'm also in the bay area and it seems like our orders came from the same iPhone shipment from Apple to AT&T (judging by shipment date and Fedex scan times). I'm just wondering (with everyone else) why many 10/7 preorders were pushed back to the same inventory pool schedule of 10/12 (and later) preorders. Correspondance from AT&T states "All orders are processed on a first come, first served basis." They have some explaining to do.

I have ordered two iphone 4s 16gb black and white on 10/7 6:30pm EST (Order ID: 43, 44).

Mines are in the queue of 14~21 days shipping.

On 10/24 late night almost midnight, the black got off backordered, and on 10/25 midnight, I received an email informing it's shipped with tracking no. However, the tracking number has not been found on Fedex yet. This means they haven't ship it yet, but they said it's shipped. It's ridiculous!

I saw several posts that orders on 10/8, 10/9, 10/12, and even 10/17 are shipped or on their way.

This doesn't make sense at all. Where is "fisrt come, first served"?

My white iphone 4s has still been backordered since 10/7 !!!!!!!!!!  What are you doing AT&T?

So has anyone who ordered 10/8 gotten of back order?  Seems me a lot of people from 10/7 are coming off back order but I haven't seen many from 10/8.

There's no rhyme or reason as to what order AT&T is shipping these phones. It's definitely not first come first served. I have read of many people ordering later than 10/8 already receiving their 4s'.

Ordered 1 black and 1 white 16G late on the night of the 9th (from ATT website)... confirmation email actually came through after midnight. Checked early this morning and I'm off back order, and now "Processing"!!!! Hopefully they'll ship today!! I'm in NYC.

As happy as I am, and as happy as I see everyone else that their phones ahve now shipped, let us not forget that while we are happy now, we should have been this happy 2 weeks ago. We should have had our phones as soon as, or even before everyonewho just waited in line on the 14th did.

We spent our time going into the stores early to reserve a phone. We were told these were pre-orders, and pre-orders should work the way one would expect - that our orders come before the orders that were placed by those who just waited in line on the 14th.

Let us not forget that it was because of this mess that some of us tried canceling our orders so that we could go out and buy one at an Apple Store; only to find out that AT&T then shipped their phone to us, thus charging the person twice (I read this report in one of the forums, can't remember which one at the moment).

We spent time on the phone with customer service not getting straight answers, we wasted much more of our time than anyone who just waited in line.

We can not let AT&T think that if they just wait it out, they'll get off the hook. If we do that, they'll do the same thing again. In fact, this pre-order debacle WAS repeated as it happened during the iPhone 4 release too.

We must continute to report them to the Better Business Beuro, and we must never again pre-order through AT&T directly. Why did I go through AT&T this time? I was worried about my unlimited data not crossing over with my new 2-year contract. The Apple website made it unclear, so I decided to do it in-person at the AT&T store. But if I have those same worries again for another phone's release I will NOT go in and pre-order, I will wait until the day of. And you all should too - save yourselves the hassle. I don't want my fellow iPhone users who were excited and loyal enough to pre-order to have to wait longer than the regular joe on the street.

It's not fair, it's not right, and it shouldn't be forgotten. Let's keep AT&T in check.

I ordered mine 10/09.

Order was placed on 10/14 after 1000 problems and mistakes on the order.

talked to csr's every day (first cuz of the problems and later cuz of frustration) since 10/09 and so far i got $60 credit back on my bill twice and 1000 minutes on the roll over that I am never gonna get to use.

Filed a complaint with the BBB and ATT called me back trying to cancel the order as a solution to the problem.

The status on my order is (in progress) but with a BACK ORDER on two Iphone 4s 16gb, one white one black.

The case filed on the BBB helped me get the second $60 credit. I know it didnt solve my problem, that my order is still back ordered and that ATT sucks <word filter>. but at least they did something for me and it does feel better to have credit on my next bill.

Wisco23 update.

Ordered 16GB WH in store (phone) 10/7/11 at 2:32 PM

Was told by the store clerk that it could take as long as 14-21 days

Received email confirmation saying 14-21* days

Yesterday I noticed I was off back-order.

35 Minutes ago, I got an email from ATT saying my phone has shipping w/ a tracking # (standard overnight delivery, 3PM tomorrow)

FedEx website shows estimated delivery for tomorrow. (day 20)

So, long story short, it looks like ATT will meet the 14-21 day window.  Do I wish I had my phone earlier? Sure.  But I can't say that ATT isn't executing their promise.  I'm still a bit peeved at my local store manager who refused to cancel my preorder without charging me a re-stocking fee when I would return the phone being shipped to me.  (that after only 45 minutes in line( and on phone with CSR at same time) w/ free coffee on the 14th).

This will likely be my last post in this thread.  I have enjoyed my time here.  Cheers

Zigma - you got a $60 credit from the BBB? Fantasic. When they asked you what kind of compensation you wanted, di you ask specifically for that or was that something they offered you?

In my case when they asked, I said I should get a discount on the phone or the phone plan.

My pre-order (what a con) cancellation allowed my upgrade eligibility to be immediately reinstated. Make sure you call 1-866-391-0749 (at least it worked for me).  It took a day to get a reservation at an apple store.   File with BBB, they cannot get you money directly, but can cause At&t some effort to respond to complaints.  It may be one of the only ways to get ATT to actually react to the problems their over selling pre-orders has caused.

it happened to me, i ordered on 10/7 about 4pm and i checked the status of my order on wednesday 12th and the order date changed to the 12th, and i noticed because of my bank account statement. I called and att&t and the rep told me that the actual order date was on the 14th when the phone started to be available and the pre-order is like a waiting list a insures you will receive a phone some day when available.

It is really stupid, when you can just walk in a store and buy it. Every time i call to at&t the waiting time for the phone to arrive rises, first told: 7-14, then 14-21 and now 21-28 days.

I am very mad.

And on top of that they will not cancel the order. :/

don't understand why they won't cancell your order, many of us have and now have our new phones.  

When I called the 611 line they told me thet I could not cancell it because it was "in progress" which meant it was being shipped to the wharhouse. I told her it has said that for 18 days.  She said if I wanted to cancel I had to go to the store I bought it from. I did just that, they cancelled it, I had my eligability  back, got a phone reserved from the Apple store and now I am a happy camper with my new phone.

So inconsistant on what people are being told.  Hope you get it soon!!!!!!!!!

I am leaving for a business trip early tomorrow morning so I am very disappointed not to have it for that, but hopefully it will have shipped and will be waiting for me when I get home next week!
