iPhone 4S Pre-Order Delay Complaint. ...What I did to voice my frustratio n.

Like MANY of you that have pre-ordered your iPhone 4S and did not receive it on the 14th, I have had number of frustrating conversations with the Customer Service Representatives (CSR). Also, like MANY of you that had these conversations, I was also told one thing and later told another (some would call this lying). Again, like MANY of you, I tried to cancel my order with no avail. So this is what I did.
1) I filed a complaint with the Better Business Beareau.

AT&T is a multi-billion dollar company. However, it has had the same iPhone pre-order delay problems since 3GS!!!
I AM NOT GETTING PUSHED AROUND BY AT&T ANYMORE! I WILL DO WHAT I CAN TO BE HEARD. YOU TOO CAN DO THE SAME!!

i never read where AT&T said you will have your new Iphone 4S on the 14th! AT&T stated it will ship on the 14th as they got the phones in stock.a friend done a pre order he told me AT&T never said he will have it on the 14th it will ship on the 14th.
i got mine from the apple store last saturday monring, was in and out total time 30 minutes.and activation went smooth.

I ordered my wife's white 16gig on the same day. She was also told on the 14th. Guess what? It came on the 14th. 10AM FedEx.

Just to let you know, "some" customers were told by the AT&T reps that we would have our preordered iPhone 4S on or one day before the 14th. I was one of the ones who was told that I would at least get my 4S by the 14th when I preordered it in the store early on the 7th..... This is what made me mad and I'm sure a lot of others as well. If I would have been told that the preorders could take as long as 2 - 3 weeks to arrive I would have never preordered in the first palce. I no longer care since I was able to pick one up in the store after work on the 14th and was also able to get my original preorder canceled after 3 days of calling into customer service.... Next year I would hope AT&T will have learned from this and train some of the reps from this year not to promise a preorder on a certain day, when they can't deliver on it....

okay you was told this. my friend was told nothing. but when he called he was told it would ship on the 14th.

Sorry, but in my case I don't see any reason to file a complaint against AT&T over this. I did walk into a corporate store and was able to purchase the iPhone 4S on Friday afternoon, and while it did take them 3 days to cancel my preorder, they did do it. It's a lesson learned for me, no more preorders. I'll take my chances on getting the new iPhone in the store on launch day from now on.

The whole point is that the stores had stock on launch day for walk ins. Those should have gone to the pre=orders first. That's the bottom line.

It simply means that you placed an order "before" the new iPhone officially launched.

Irish Rose: Got it! But when you get the actual order filled is entirely different.
Maybe AT&T should have "Pre-In-Progress" and "Pre-Shipped" and "Pre-Delivered" too...so we can all file for those and make sure we get out phone in time as promised.
You know...what gets me isn't that the phones are late. If they told me that pre-orders were going to be 21-28 days late from the beginning, I'll be ok with that. It's that CSR told me one thing, and later it was something else, then again something else. Just be honest so that us, consumers, can make appropriate decisions. And LET US CANCEL OUR ORDERS!!!!

I understand where you are going with this, ATnT_Sux. And believe me, I can relate to the frustrations that you and others are experiencing over this years preorders as well. I was also given the wrong info by the in store rep when I placed my order on the 7th. However, there isn't too much that is going to be done about it at this point as AT&T moves forward with getting caught up with their preorder demand.

I know that AT&T can't magically make more iPhones and fulfill our iPhone 4S orders with this launch. What I'm trying to accomplish is for AT&T to admit that what they did was wrong and will not allow something like this to happen in the future. That's all. J U S T B E H O N E S T.

I highly doubt AT&T is going to "admit" anything, but good luck with your mission, so to speak. If anything, I believe AT&T will review the preorder procedures and hopefully make a few changes so that they can stay on top of them with next years iPhone launch.

wow all the threads started becuase you did not get your Iphone 4S! i never read where AT&T stated you will get your new iphone 4S on launch day october the 14th? please post a link or official statement from AT&T. my friend did a preorder it never said he will have it launch day it stated it would ship on launch day. how can you have it launch day/releaseday when it was just getting to the retail stores and apple? you can not. i got my iphone 4S on 10/15/11 i waited inline for 15 minutes once inside the apple store another 15 minutes. i requested apple did not activate it. so i can see first hand about the activation problems. i had NONE" turn 4S on go through the steps to set it up sign with your apple ID to register the iphone 4S and that's about it.
i seen so many activation problems i can't understand why there was so many and my 4S activated with in 5 minutes.
as for the release date october 14th if i read this correctly would ship the 14th unpon arrival in the apple stores and AT&T stores.

While I do think this Apple iPhone forum has been over run by the complaints surrounding AT&T's preorder this year, I do understand where their frustration is coming from. While your friend might not have been told he would get his before the launch day, there were many customers who were told they would receive their 4S "on" or one day before the launch. These people were also given a hard time about canceling their preorders even though the phone was still on backorder status, which is ridiculous, IMO. So, while I can relate to these customers complaints, I don't see why a lot of their complaints couldn't be contained in one thread as it relates to the same topic....

Honestly, from an organizational point of view, you're right. Single thread would be less "messy" and contained. But from someone who wants as much visibility of this issue as possible, more thread, more exposure, better.

My Friend ordered his iPhone 4s on Oct. 8 and he received it today Oct. 21.
The problem is its not the right phone he received. He ordered 16G but he received 64G and charged him on for the 64G.
He called AT&T about the issues and he said he would like to send it back and get his money back. Since this is a hassle for him, he asked if he can get his correct order expedite. The AT&T told him that they will charge him for expediting his order.
This is so inconvenient! Customer is expecting what they order that he didn't get then they still charge you for their fault?! Cmon AT&T there is no complimentary or at least making the transactions correct?!

Maybe someone can help me out here. I'm wondering the logic behind someone who uses a company that provides a service that they can't stand and instead of leaving that company, they try to impose their will on that company and make the company change it's policy. Now it has even been escalated to the point of trying to shut the company down. I really don't understand why you people just don't leave. Cancel your service, cancel your upgrade and leave. I'm going to be brutally honest, AT&T doesn't care about you. I know it's a shock, but you not having the 4S doesn't even register on their radar.

That's true, but it's not clear that more visibility is doing actually anything. Launch day is past and people didn't get their phone. That's done, and it doesn't seem that having dozens of threads all complaining about the same thing and/or threatening to leave AT&T is getting anyone their pre-ordered phone any faster or making AT&T change their policy on selling new phones to walkins while making those who ordered wait. Not saying the preordering issues are wrong or right, but it seems the main effect is cluttering up the forum and not bringing about much real change.

I'm not entirely un-happy with AT&T. As matter of fact, I like AT&T's service where I am. I like the fact that I can surf and talk. I am just unhappy that I was lied to during the pre-order process. And that I can't cancel my order. I don't want to shut them down. But at the same time, I don't think I should take it up the butt by AT&T just because I like their service.
Absolutely AT&T doesn't care about us. That's what we're trying to change. Maybe this time, if not, then next time. But we're gonna try...instead of just assuming that AT&T doesn't care and give up before even trying.
