iPhone Lost

Im not sure if this is the corect area to post this, so I apologize if it isnt. I recently lost my iPhone two days ago at a bookstore. I had Mobileme on it, but it can't determine the location.. so Im guessing someone turned it off, or took out the sim? Im not exactly sure how this works. What I'm wondering is:

a. If the Sim card is taken out, is it impossible to find?

b. If whoever has it resets the phone and wipes my information from it, does the mobileme no longer work?

c. If whoever has it does end up wiping all the information and take out the sim card, if they put in their own sim card and try using it with their service will it alert me? Or will they be allowed to use my phone just like that?

Thanks for the help, I recently just got this phone as a present so I don't know what to do.

If the finder of your iPhone wipes it out, you will not be able to locate it with find my iPhone.

Yes. Once they wipe your phone, put their SIM in, and associate it with another iTunes account, you won't be able to find it.

Sorry this is the last question, but if they registered their itunes account with it, wouldn't they need the serial number of the phone? Since the number is already associaeted with my account, would I be notified in anyway of this happening?

Unfortunately Apple does not help you out in these cases. ATT is the same.

If you have homeowners or renters, you might be able to file a claim?
