iPhone unable to make and recieve calls

My iPhone recently stopped being able to make or recieve calls. I try to make a call and it beeps and then says Call Failed. I have service, but I do not have EDGE service like usual. I've tried everything, like rebooting the phone, turning on airplane mode and then turning it off, I made sure all the setting were at default, and I even restored it to original settings using iTunes. I restored it twice, once I restored it and then restored off of a backup, then I did it and I didn't restore off the backup so it is exactly to it's original condition. My internet obviously isn't working without EDGE. Since it stopped working I had it get EDGE signal and I was able to make a phone call, but that only lasted a minute or two and then it went out again. It's been out all day except for maybe an hour when if you add together both of the times I actually was able to make calls. I also tried emailing AT&T but their list of manufacturers doesn't include apple which is stupid since I did buy the phone in their store. I don't have a phone to contact AT&T with because my only phone obviously isn't working. I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

sounds like the exact same problem I am having....where are you located? I am in Dekalb, IL

I wonder if it could be the EDGE network. You should try and call AT&T from a friend's phone or from work. I've seen various threads where, for some reason, EDGe goes down. Alternatively bring it in to the Apple store and let them look at it.

I'm also in Dekalb, IL. My Problem started yesterday and it still seems to be not working today. When did yours start?

yeah mine started yesterday too and I know of two other people in DeKalb having this problem...

Although, I went to class today and got the EDGE network back and could make calls, but my voicemail was still down

I'm in Anchorage, AK, and I lost EDGE service on my iPhone sometime yesterday. I can make/receive calls, but the phone can't find the EDGE network servers from either of two locations it had previously worked from. Based on this info, it sounds like AT&T is having data issues rather than tower issues. Account registration at www.att.com is also down. I just got the phone a few days ago, it's been working great, and I was going to register my account and make sure it's not a weird deactivation issue or something. I'll guess I'll try again later.

I couldn't find a technical support number on this site - anyone have it? Alternately, a page displaying current outages would be handy, so I don't have to call for something they're already aware of. I couldn't find a 'known outages' page on their support site either.
