Procedure of unlock Iphone 4 [ Edited ]

I am in dubai and I purchased an AT&T Iphone 4 from EBay six month ago, which is coctract free.after hearing about AT&T unlock i contacted AT&T (+18668013600) and they told me that you fax the EBay OR PayPal receipt so we can try to unlock your Iphone, they created my case and told me that you will receive update till evening 16April.....This is the prosedure for unlocking an Iphone purchased through EBay..but today i saw a new tweet that there is another prosedure of 72 hours through AT&T website chat...which i cannot confirm, if some one have information about so please share...here is the link for detail about that  http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2012/04/08/atts-iphone-unlock-process-detailed-a-quick-online-chat-appl...

What you will have been given is a reference code for your request, not an unlock code as there is no such thing.

The unlocking of an iPhone is done by the network, if the phone meets the condtions,  asking Apple to change its database to show that the phone is now unlocked, after around seven days you then connect your phone to iTunes and you will see a message that your phone in unlocked.

There is no code to enter.

Wonder what those folks who kept repeating over and over that AT&T would probably never unlock iPhones (at least not in the near future) have to say now, seeing that the "near future" has now arrived?  Granted that there are some requirements to be met before an AT&T iPhone will be unlocked but it is still an unlock...which of course is not the same as saying that "it will never be unlocked"--and yes, you people who kept saying that over and over in all of the previous unlock threads know who you are.  And of course some of these same folks will undoubtedly offer that theTim Cook "letter"--which they probably still believe it to be a hoax--and/or the resulting "fallout" from it had nothing to do with AT&T reconsidering their iPhone unlock policy; I mean, do you really think it was just sheer coincidence that AT&T will now start unlocking iPhones under certain conditions shortly after the Tim Cook letter came out?  Oh wait--the same folks who kept saying over and over that AT&T will never unlock their iPhones will now claim that they knew all along that AT&T was planning to unlock them but could not say anything here until now because they were under a non-disclosure agreement to not say anything about it...

u have to call to the customer number +18668013600 they will creat your case number and then they'll send you an email after a week.if your phone is off-contract.u can call free on that number, just download hotspot shield and open your gmail inbox chat box..and you can call to USA free of cost after connectiong hotspot shield.

I have an iPhone4 and the contract has only 4 months left. I have to leave States for a couple of months. I wonder whether it is okay if I upgrade 4 to 4s and unlock the 4 and cancel the 4s upgrade within 30 months with 4s unopened.

i think one of person have given you the correct answer. you'll not receive unlock code but you'll receive your case number and after a week they 'll send you an email so then try to connect with ITune maybe it'll be unlock, but if you have off contract.

Hello,

I bought a used, off contract, iPhone 4 to put my ATT sim in and I used it for a couple of months. I have now left the USA (went to Europe) and, because my iphone is locked, I cannot use it with European carriers. How should I proceed to ask for a carrier unlock?

BTW, I tried accessing my GoPhone account online and because I haven't refilled it in 4 months it is now deactivated.
