Unlocking abroad iPhone 4

I bought an iPhone 4 from a man who was from The US,and I don't know its wireless number,but It contains an AT&T sim card.There is no AT&T service in my country(Cambodia),so the only way to unlock it is to call AT&T via Skype but I don't know the number and don't know what time they work. Moreover,I don't know if It is possible for AT&T to unlock it or not because I don't have the wireless number! I wish to unlock it. Please Help! I'll wait to hearing from you....

call 1-800-331-0500 and then dial 0010 to immediately speak to a representative and skip the hold time (International users dial 1-800-335-4685)

I think they are 7x24 but not sure -

I have call to AT&T on 13 april. Solution expected on 23 April but she not give case#. should I call again or waiting for email?

You could try again. You may also want to try to backup your iPhone in iTunes then perform a restore. It may be setup and the email just did not go out?

I gave her phone number, IMEI and email. She just told me will notify through my email expected on 23 April. Call drop!! I try check IMEI info website. My phone still lock.

IMEI.info. feel not good to hear that. I'm Waiting too long. Anyway, they can check that case by IMEI?

Since I am not familiar with the site, and they apear to be europe based? Do they have acurrate unlocking info about iPhones?

Since I don't know them, I am not about to try my imei number to see what it says so I am not sure if you should rely uPon that data for a us based carrier and your unlocking stslatus? Even if it is accurate, how often is the data updated?

I would just call and not try to speculate.

Many users in another forums report it more accuracy than other sites. Does att's agent can check my case by give her IMEI?

never got any emails with the case number from any of the requests I placed started getting the confirmation emails that the phone was eligible for unlock about 10 days after I made the first call

never mind I found it, not sure of it's accuracy at all when it comes to the locked iphones, shows the ones I unlocked incorreclty

Why in case of my friend 15 April, when he got his case number and after about 10 hours, he receive a email with notice his iphone was unlocked?

Imagine situation. I dont have activating iphone 4s. If at&t send me an email that my iphone is succeful unlocked,then i dont need to activate or what? I dont know.

I applied for the unlock on 4/9 and I am positive I met all the requirements but still haven't received the "unlock email".

I spoke to a CSR on MONDAY and they said they were now processing my request and I should receive an email in the next 24-48 hours.

Do you have any idea why some people receive quick unlocks and some take so long? Where in the process do you think the bottleneck (hold up) occurs?

BTW, the CSRs all agree that my case should be a "slam dunk"

I suspect that current AT&T customers whose accounts they can look up and quickly see that the IMEI you give them was once associated with your account and they can quickly tell that your contract was fulfilled go the fastest. Mine were both done while on the phone, and that still took 10 minutes for them to research my info and tell me that I was eligible, and I've only ever had one account and phone number, and both of my older phones were associated with that account.

Probably for those who aren't AT&T customers and all you have is an IMEI number with no other information, they simply take your information on the phone, and then research it off phone because it's more time consuming to search through their records when they only have one piece of info. They may even have a separate team that does this research, so they can free the phone reps for other AT&T customers.

Also, I went through the Premier CS, since my account is a Premier account, but don't know if that makes a difference.

Thant's interesting because I am an AT&T customer and received an offer to upgrade my iPone at a discounted price as long as I extended my contract for another 2 years. I did buy the newer iPhone 4S at the local Apple Store and they switched the activation from my old iPhone to the new iPhone right there on the spot. I have been an AT&T customer for many years and my account has always been clean. Go figure

We really are not sure but you need to see if that iPhone is even eligible to be unlocked as the seller may not have satisfied their contractual obligation. It wont matter if the iPhone was never activated it is still linked to the sellers contract.

Please remove your imei number for your own protection. To determine if you have an iPhone that is eligible to be unlocked you will need to call the number bellow as only AT&T can start the process as for being on 5.1, that is not an issue.

have been waiting since Apr 8,and called AT&T 3 times to check the status. Finally received the email today (4/20) and the phone unlocked immediately. No more waiting fore Gevery or R-sims and it's free and pernament factory unlocked, also no more seraching for unlock solutions. Very happy about it.

So to others still waiting, keep patiently. Or keep calling AT&T, it may help to speed up. My experience is speak to them politely.
