Until YOU call them you wil not find out. No one on theforums can answer your questions on if it can be done or not. The only people that can start the investigation into if the phone can be unlocked is ATT customer service and the only way you can contract them is to call them. Posting here and asking does absolutley no good at all

I've tried to contact many time to AT&T customer care center for help to unlock my IP, unfortunately they said that my IP right now is non AT&T user so they cannot unlock my IP.

this post will be move to the correct thread.. but

if you cannot supply the required information to att they will not unlock the phone, posting in the forums will not make it happen. their posted requirements are specific on the information that is required, no information no unlock

1. cell phone number that was attached to the iphone when it was on att's network - or -

2. the account numner that the imei number of the iphone was attached to the att network - or -

3. a receipt stateing that you paid full retail price for the iphone from a authorized dealer (ebay, craigslist or individual seller is not a authorized dealer)

If the information is unavailable - which as your post staes since they won't unlock it, then tere is little that can be done except for you to sell it

as started numberous times, you need to call them. review the requirments for unlocking the phone - if your devices fulfills the those requirements that are listed create a skype account and call att CS

I have a question, now AT&T said if you are non AT&T customer, but it still can unlock for you if you bought the iphone from authorized dealer, like Apple Shop or Best Buy with full price.

I saw New Egg has some refurnished AT&T iphone for sale, just wonder will AT&T unlock for me if I bought it on New Egg with full price.

Don't really know but if you call ATT and not worry if we say they are or are not, you would get the official answer.  Only ATT can determine for certain if your iPhone can be unlocked.  The phone number is in my signature.

no one on the forums can assist you, if you cannot supply the required information ATT will not unlock the phone. You can call ATT service by simply getting a Skype account and using that to call them, but unless you can supply the information or a bill of sale showing you paid full retail price from a authorized dealer (ebay is not a authorized dealer) you are pretty much out of luck. Call you fried and see if they can supply the required documentation, or have them unlock it if they qualify

Please remove your personal info on this public forum.  Second. have your friend call aTT to start the unlocking process.  This assumes your friend is or was an ATT customer?  If not, you may be out of luck.  To keep your costs down, use Skype to call ATT directly as that is the only way to start the unlocking process.

I bought one online, Amazon, got ripped since its locked on AT&T. Im wondering if a relative or a friend who is a present customer can initiate the process?

No they cannot get the phone unlocked because it is not on their account. The phone can only be unlocked by the account holder of the phone.
Phone must be linked to account to get unlocked.

If you purchased it on Amazon and it was supposed to be unlocked, why don't you just return it since it doesn't meet the terms of which you bought it?

3. if you feel you can qualify for the unlock give them a call and supply the required information

I tried using the live chat or calling directly to AT&T customer support, but they keep asking my account information, however I dont have an active account at this point, I would just like them to review my case and verify me if my iphone can be unlocked.

Did you have an account with AT&T in the past? If not, AT&T will most likely not unlock your iPhone.

Hi, everyone. I just bought an iPhone 4S 32GB from Amazon off contract for $699. It was factory sealed in the box without any sim card. I activated it using my gophone sim that I have been using for 3 years now on my other phone. I checked the warranty status of the phone on apple's website and without any surprise the warranty countdown had started the day I activated it. I am going abroad for a vacation and want to use my phone there on a local GSM network, and I want to know if at&t will unlock my iPhone 4S for use in Asia?

This post will be merged with the others.  If you can provide proof that it was bought for the full no contract price from an authorized retailer, it should be able to be unlocked.  Don't know if Amazon is an authorized retailer, though.  Anyway, only way to find out is to call AT&T and ask if the phone can be unlocked.  No one here can tell you.

more then likely not, they are pretty specific on what is valid for the unlock
