Any idea when we might see some Android love on these new Mobile apps that can access the U-verse set tops?

Hey Jeffer...
The U-verse Mobile application is available to Android and U-verse customers on the Android Market at http://market.android.com/details?id=com.att.andro
The U-verse Mobile app will allow you to manage your DVR including setting up recordings, cancelling scheduled recordings, and deleting recordings on their U-verse DVR at home. Qualified customers can also watch TV shows on their Android phone.
Please let us know if you have any trouble with the app & definitely let us know if you have any feedback on it!

Thank you, Jamie. I am aware of the U-verse Mobile app. I was one of the first to scream when it came out and I initially couldn't download it from the Androi Market because I'm not an AT&T Mobile customer. This was apparently later changed to allow non-AT&T Androids to get the application, though the video download feature doesn't seem to work.
However, I am interested in these applications that would allow you to directly control an STB via WiFi, such as those that have just appeared for iPhone, e.g. the ones that are labeled as "Uverse Enabled Applications."
I guess I should look into getting signed up as an AT&T developer partner and cranking out my own app for the Android.

Since those new apps are created by third party companies, you might want to contact them directly to see if they have plans to develop Android apps.

Ahh, gotcha. I don't have anything new to share on that front but it would be awesome to have you contribute your mad dev skills.
I'll pass your feedback on to the Apps team and see if I can find any info about getting involved in app development.

Indeed, I am also very interested in any developer access as well. I found an obscure web page at one point regarding the U-Verse enabled apps, but it looked like there was a "beta" period that had since expired. I actually would have signed up as a beta developer had I known about it, but it apparently was not publicized at all.
jamileh, if you have any access to the U-Verse enabled app people, I would definitely like to do whatever is required to get access to the APIs. UV Realtime would clearly benefit from many of these features, I just need to know how to interface with the set-top boxes.
As far as the U-Verse enabled apps for Android, one of the BuddyTV developers has posted over on Uverseusers.com that an Android version of the BuddyTV app is targeted for release very soon (mid-November was mentioned, but I would wager it might be a little longer than that).

Jamie,,
Yes, please. Like SomeJoe7777, I have perused the developer pages and cannot find anything useful about the Uverse APIs. Just let me know anything you need from me.
Thanks.

True, but I think the Uverse Enabled functionality doesn't exist yet in the Android version.

Yeah I could see no way of enabling it. I'll delete it, for now.

The android app won't work with Ice Cream Sandwich (android v4.0) and consequently my Galaxy Nexus. I realize this is a relatively new OS but does anyone know if theres a timetable to update the app so that it works with the latest and greatest OS?

Feb 22 now and my Transformer Prime tablet with ICS "...cannot reach AT&T's server". I let my wife have my iPad where the uverse app works perfectly (otherwise I have no use for Apple).
Dear ATT: How about responding with an update on the efforts you're hopefully making to get the current Android working?

I have the App on my AT&T Captivate and it" It has been saying that since last Fall. has not worked since last Fall. You can get the guide but if you try to record something it says "The U-verse Mobile service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." Isn't it time it does work?

I just tried setting some recordings, and it worked fine on my Samsung. What version are you running? I have 2.3.1, build 3215. It's running over WiFi rather than cellular, which might make a difference.

Where did you get it?

The latest version on Android Market (oops, I mean "Google Play") is 2.3.1. I've streamed a couple programs with it, but haven't tried saving any.

I'd bet any link I posted would be summarily executed. Try Googleing "apk Uverse Mobile download 2.3.1".
I'm not sure this is any different from what's on Google Play at this point.

2.3.1 still doesn't work with ICS, which was the original issue....

Actually, the original issue for this thread is that there are no U-verse connected apps for the Android Market as there are for the iOS market. I believe the reason for that is that AT&T has still not released an SDK for the Android Market to their developer network. At least, I can't find it.

good call. got my threads mixed up. could it be that ICS (or lack of support for it) is preventing them from releasing it though?

I suppose that they could have targeted Ice Cream Sandwitch as the initial Android release to provide support for. However, they went gold with the iOS release a long time ago. I think AT&T still wants to do stuff that helps their iPhone market and those with Android phones are poor red-headed stepchildren in their eyes.
(Not that I have anything against stepchildren or red-heads.
)
