Dear AT&T,
As a long time customer of your wireless services, I am asking you to reconsider your decision to block browsing on Blackberry Playbooks via the Blackberry bridge application.
In my research, you are the only major North American carrier that is blocking access using the Bridge. Even my wife's enterprise secured work device on Verizon allowed access to browsing using Bridge. Even though AT&T wireless/data plans are some of the most expensive plans around, you still to charge your customer more. How many customers has AT&T lost because their lack of responsiveness to customers? Is the additional earnings worth the lost customers?
Again, as your customer, please reconsider the decision to block browsing access via Blackberry Bridge.
FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER,
Russ

I may send the tablets I bought for my son and myself back since we were told we could use the bridge and our current blackberry plan - no mention of needing the tether account and I asked if was needed. We have been customers 10+ years and have talked numerous people into becoming customers as well - very disapointed

I agree!
I bought the Playbook because of the option to do the bridging. I already pay for a blackberry phone and I also pay for a wireless internet device so that I can access the internet from my laptop. But there are times when I don't wish to carry my laptop and thought this would be a great intermediary device. I had no idea when I bought the playbook that AT&T would be blocking this feature!!! I am utterly dismayed with AT&T!!
Honestly, I don't understand why there is an additional charge to do tethering at all. After all, I am paying for a certain amount of data using my account. What does it matter if the data is displayed on my Torch or my Playbook?
Please reconsider AT&T! This is enough to make me reconsider what wireless company I use!!!!

AT&T just nickel and dime the customers. I have been a customer since AT&T took over LA Cellular. Not only AT&T does not let Playbook user to use the Bridge without additional fees, AT&T send out warning email and text to Grandfather Unlimited Data users. I received a warning 2 days to the end of my billing cycle telling me that I am over 2 GB and need to use WIFI. Otherwise, my data would be throttle back. Why would I not use WIFI if I have access to WIFI? Some folks received this warning when they reach 10 GB and I received this same warning when I reach 2GB.
I just got a Playbook and was thinking of getting a Blackberry to pair it up. Now, I am thinking of going to T-Mobile and get their 5 GB data plan. I use about 2 GB with my Android phone now, and I am sure I am going to use a bit more if I get a Blackberry and bridge the Playbook. T-Mobil does not charge customers to use the Bridge.
Since I am no longer on contract, I can leave any time I want. I’ll be porting my phone number to T-Mobil if I get throttled.

I am VERY upset about this. I recently switched to ATT after several happy years as a Sprint customer, because ATT had the phone I wanted & because I wanted to get a Playbook & connect with the bridge. A month ago I had to increase my data plan to an enterprise plan so I could receive my work email & calendar via BES. I spent hours with my local tech support trying to get it to activate & it never did. I found a great workaround for that issue so I gave up trying to get it to connect with my company's BES. I just got a Playbook days ago & love being able to surf from work where there is no WiFi connection. I changed my plan from the 300MB enterprise plan to the regular 300MB plan, dropping my data plan from $35 to $20/month. About 20 minutes after I made the plan change, I could no longer surf; I got ATTs error message that I needed a tethering plan. My only option was a 5GB plan for $50!!!! I used less than 50MB of data last month with just my phone, so even if I quadrupled my data usage with the Playbook, I'm still 100MB less than the package max!! Why would I think ATT considered blackberry phone to blackberry playbook tethering? They connect via bluetooth. How is this different than my bluetooth headset, bluetooth speakerphone/FM transmitter for the car stereo playing mp3 off of my BB, or the new mini keyboard that just came out a week ago?
I have U-verse TV & internet that cost more than cable, and my BB plan that costs more than other carriers. I grit my teeth & pay it because of the convenience of the service, but this is too much!!
Give me a break on this!! I have multiple products with you, ATT!!

It's completely different. None of the devices you mention is accessing the cellular network. They only connect to the device. Maybe if you switch back to the BES plan you'll get your browsing back? Yeah, it's $15 more than the plan you're on, but it's also $15 less than the tethering plan.
