Blackberry 8100 Pearl Lost Call Logs

I just got my new Pearl on Monday and since then I have lost my entire call logs twice. Once Monday night and again last night. Not sure exactly what time it happened, but it deleted all but just a few calls.

What's going on? How do I stop this from happening? What else it is randomly deleteing?

Re: Blackberry 8100 Pearl Lost Call Logs

I have the same issue with my Pearl, plus my inbox messages go missing as well.  What seems to be happening is that I lose all of my messages from the previous day when I turn the phone on in the AM and it syncs to the BB enterprise server.  This is my 3rd BB, so I'm pretty sure I'm not missing anything in the settings...but could be.  Also, when I go into other folders, like the sent folder, all of those messages from previous days are still there, so this is only impacting the Inbox and Call Log.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, G

OK, this is a lame answer...but I hard reset my pearl and did not reinstall the themes I put on it and now it seems to be working again (1 week+).

your phone memory must be full. go to options then click status, should say how much free file you have. i had the same problem couple weeks ago and i did a hard reset.

Re: Blackberry 8100 Pearl Lost Call Logs

A problem that the pearl has is that it is unable to "dump" unused memory. This means that you will continue to have the same problem. The only solution is to be aware of the memory status and do a reset (by pulling the battery) every couple of days depending on how much free memory you have.

I personally erased all unused languages, the free video, PTT, the Maps App, and some other unused programs to free up about 30 of memory. This guarantees that I will not have to do a reset at least for a little over a week.

I really hope that a new software update resolves this issue since it is pretty anoying...

Good luck!

[ Edited ]
I've experience the same problems.  In fact, when I plug the pearl into my computer and go to "media Manager," it shows free memory on the device, but when I go to status, it says the file free is 0.  That is ludicrous.  RIM needs to fix this problem.  I can't be loosing my call logs constantly, and the "pull the battery out and put back in" solution is rediculous b/c it takes like 5 mins it to boot back up.  They need like an "empty trash" option that clears this hung up memory out!  If this isn't possible, then there should be a way to save all of this info on a memory card.  I have a 2gb card in there with tons of room, but can't use it for this.  Does that make any sense to ANYone? :manmad:

Re: Blackberry 8100 Pearl Lost Call Logs

My call logs started disappearing randomly shortly after I got my Pearl. At first I thought I did it by accident so since I've been very careful. However the problem persisted and today my call logs were being deleted within 1 minute of receipt. I tested it out, and it was deleting on its own!

I called customer service, they told me to turn my phone off and wait 30 seconds and turn it back on again. I did but my call logs were still disappearing.  I read some suggestions on this forum to delete stuff to increase the memory. I got rid of all my email messages and have only 4 pictures on my phone.

I finally decided to TURN BLUETOOTH OFF, and it worked!  Is this weird?  I waited 5 minutes and turned the Bluetooth back on, and so far go good, been only an hour.  Come to think of it, I set up my bluetooth about a week after getting the phone, and that's when the call log disappeared twice on separate days. Today was just when it was driving me crazy because absolutely nothing was being retained.

Can someone show me how to HARD RESET my Pearl as some have suggested? Can you show me the key strokes because I will try this in the future if my call logs start disappearing again.

Thanks

Pull the battery to perform a hard reset.

Re: Blackberry 8100 Pearl Lost Call Logs

Well, turning off the Bluetooth didn't work after all to stop the call logs from being deleted. Thank you for showing me how to perform a hard reset, I'll try that.

Can anyone show me step by step how to delete languages that I won't use too?  I'm going to try this as well to see if I can't free up more memory.

This is driving me crazy. I don't have anything but names and numbers saved on my Pearl.

Thanks
