I have an ATT issued Cisco e1000 wireless router. I want to extend the rang of the RG wireless signal to a detached garage. I have an ethernet cable from the RG to an office adjoining the garage (used to connect a network printer). How do I connect the e1000 to get my wifi into the garage?

If at this point, you're just using the E1000 for wireless access, then it's just a matter of unplugging it, carry it to the office and plug it back in. If you are using any of the ethernet ports on the E1000 (other than to feed it from the RG), then you'll have to get a ethernet switch to put where the E1000 currently resides.

The e100 is not currently connected or being used. Wifi is provided by the RG only. From the RG an ethernet cable runs to the office, then to an ethernet switch. There are 6 ports, but none are labled Internet. I have tried placing the ethernet cable into the internet port of the e1000 and an thernet cable back to the switch. I can connect to the e1000 but not to the internet.

Don't use the "Internet" port on the E1000, just one of the regular ports.

Thanks, I now have a very strong signal into the garage. However, connection to the net is bizzare. My archos 101 tablet connects just fine. My ATT Samsung Galaxy S and Ipod touch 2gen will not. The latter devices connect to the e1000 and show a very strong signal but no internet connection.
Any "special" settings needed within the e1000?

Are you talking about one of the Uverse wireless receivers? If so, you will need to move it's access point closer to your patio. You can do this by getting a longer ethernet cable for the access point, or using a powerline ethernet adapter.
