One laptop cannot connect to the internetiiiii

I just moved into my friends house two weeks ago and my laptop will still not connect to the internet. It connects to the router but it says that the router is having problems. The only thing is that my roommates computer works fine, her PS3 works fine and my cell phone isia working fine as well. Then I thought it was a problem with my computer but it connected to the wifi at my work and the wifi at my boyfriends house with no problems. I have restarted the router twice now and its still the same. Please help me!

What type/model router?

Do you know what type of security/encryption the router is using?

What kind of laptop/OS?

Did someone else set up your connection at work and your boyfriend's?

Its the AT&T router. I don't know the security or encryption for it. My laptop is a Toshiba running vista. I set up the connection at both work and my boyfriends.

I honestly don't know what the problem could be. I've never run into anything like this before. The only thing I can't think of is maybe its something with my settings.

Well it sounds like the AT&T router probably has a higher and/or different security level than work/boyfriend router and you have to manually configure the connection, and to do that you will need to know the configuration of the AT&T router, including the SSID or network name, the authentication level (Open, WPA, WPA2), and encryption (WEP, TKIP, AES).
