2 Wire 2701HG-B Networking Problems

Just changed my DSL and had been using the modem in bridged mode with a router (necessary for work VPN) and switch behind that.  Had no problem operating network printers, a remote wireless access point, etc.  When I made the DSL change (switched phone lines to get greater speed) the modem was reverted to it's original state (not bridged) and I no longer have the need for the corporate VPN tunnel. 

My problem, now there is no connectivity beyond the modem/router itself.  All devices plugged directly into the modem work.  Any router/switch plugged into the modem do not function as they should.  

Any thoughts?  I tried to put the modem back in bridge mode utilize a router/gateway but was not successful.

If your modem was bridged before then your router was configured for PPPoE and served DHCP across your network. If your devices were manually assigned their network settings they need to be updated to either automatically receive their IP, gateway, and DNS settings or you need to reconfigure them to use the following: IP Address: 192.168.1.XXX ("XXX" can be any number between 1 and 253 but two devices cannot use the same IP address) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 DNS: automatically obtained from ADSL Modem The AT&T ADSL modem has a different default gateway than your 3rd party VPN router so that could be the issue. If you're connecting any other routers or access points behind the 2Wire, make sure they're configured to work as "switches" instead of routers where they get their DHCP from the 2Wire and you should be golden. If you're trying to connect to the 2Wire via its WLAN broadcast, look at the sticker on the modem. There will be a serial number for the modem. Note the last 3 digits (example serial number: 12345678901234). The 2Wire's default WLAN broadcast will be "2WIRExxx" (the "xxx" will be the last 3 digits of the serial number. In this example, it would be "2WIRE234".) Once you determine the WLAN broadcast name (SSID), you'll need a password to connect to it because it's secured with WEP encryption by default. The password should be located on the sticker on the modem as well. It's in brackets like this [1234567890] and it will be 10 digits long. That 2Wire router's fully supported by AT&T's DSL Help Desk so if you have any problems you should be able to call the help desk for assistance. They just can't offer assistance configuring your network devices, printers, or access points behind the 2Wire but I'm sure if you have that kind of equipment, you probably already know how to configure it anyway.
