After a lot of frustration playing Call of Duty online, I have been tinkering with my routers settings. I achieved the "Open Nat" status, but was still not finding good enough games. I have always had nat type 3. I'm using nothing but the motorolla 2210 dsl modem and a 5 hub switch. No router. I have assigned the ps3 a static IP, and that's what opened my nat. I really want to get a type 2, if I can.
For the first time ever, I was able to get a NAT type 1 last night on my PS3. All I did was go to IP passthrough/DMZ on my motorola 2210 modem/router. I told it to put "User-configured computer" in DMZ mode. I, then, set my PS3 up with the public IP address it showed on my network, and voila! Type 1. Computer was still able to browse online, as well.
However, when I went to play call of duty MW3, I could not connect to their online server. Never a problem when I had strict Nat/type 3. Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? I have been stumped over this whole thing for a while now, but feel as if I'm getting closer.
