My WiFi connection to my 2wire RG works fine. I'm using it to post this message. My hardwired connection totally falis. Though the status says "connected" there are zero bytes transmitted and zero received. Attempting to access the RG at http://home/ responds with "Can't find the server."
I have repeatedly rebooted the offending computer and checked all the internet settings I can think of (nothing appears to be wrong). I have reset the RG (holding the red button down for 20 seconds) and power cycled it (left it powered off for 2 minutes). The situation has not changed.
This happened a few weeks ago and after about 4 days of frustration it started working again spontaneously without me doing anything that made any differnce. This occurence seems to have happened this morning while we had a brief power brown-out. It was connected and was worked and then just stopped. I have U-Verse TV & phone and they were unaffected. And note... WiFi is fine... it's just the hardwire Ethernet which seems to be insane. Status says "connected" but there is no actual communications.
I'd appreciate any advice, things to check, etc. Calling the U-Verse help line is the last thing I want to do. It's a waste of time.

just hooked up a 3rd computer to the hardwire Ethernet LAN and it connects just fine. Ran IPconfig and I see that my Connection-specfic DNS suffix is blank on the non-connecting PC. The others all have gateway.2wire.net.
Tried doing ipconfig /release it took the comand but never came back. Any idea how to fix the problem and more important, what caused it to go off the rails this morning?
