Whenever I try to send a picture by text message to another phone it just says "sending..." and it never goes. Same kind of thing happens when somebody sends me a picture by text message. Says "downloading..." and I never get it. But I'm able to use the internet features of sending pictures so I don't understand what the problem is. Anyone else have this problem with the LG Thrive? I'm on the new $25 monthly plan and have unlimited text/messaging.

you can only send picture messages if you have a data package. doesn't work over wifi. i had the same issue when i first got my phone so i called customer support and i had to buy a data package. it's pretty stupid i know but it's the only way.

No, mms messages are included in the text message plan, the onyl thing that would prevent sending a MMS message is if the line has a data block on it.

What do you mean by data block? I'm still confused and don't know why I can't send or receive pictures via text/MMS.

If you send a text message with a picture attached, the picture is considered data and is transfered like that, Your texting package includes this format. If you or someone authorized on the account called into ATT CS and requests a data block on the line to prevent charges for accidently going on to the internet and being charged by the kb for usage. If ythis was done you would not be able t send picture messages - MMS

no that's not true. the lg thrive is a smartphone. it clearly states that if you have a smartphone you have to have a data plan in order to access the internet and to send picture messages. that unlimited text and web is only for non smartphone users.

this is what it says on the website. "Smartphones require a data package to use data/web services with any eligible plan on the AT&T network. Pay-per-use data is not available on Smartphones." picture/video messages are considered data services. even though you have the monthly unlimited plan you still have to pay for a data plan. go to att.com/mygophone and log in to your account. click on buy feature packages. 50 mb is $5, 200 mb is $15, and 1 gb is $25. i recommend buying the 1gb package and just adding $5 to it every month. if you don't renew your data package every month you lose what you already have. so make sure you add to it before the month is over and it will rollover. don't listen to this other guy because he doesn't know what he's talking about. i've had this phone for over a year. i know what i'm talking about.

true a data plan is required for a smartphone, but it has nothing to do with sending MMS messages, the unlimited text plan includes MMS messages - simple proof is have kids that have standard qmd devices, they send and recieve MMS with zero problems, they do not have a data plan on it.
To the OP, I ap0logize, missed that you have a smartphone, so there is a required data plan on the phone, the chances of it having a data block are slim. I would suggest thsat you head into a retail outlet and have them examine your account closely to see if there are any issues on it.

I am having the same exact problem with my Samsung Galaxy S2. I purchased two of these phones and just got them about a week ago and have yet been able to send a picture message. I can browse the internet fine either with the data packet enabled or over wi-fi. I can get texts and send them just fine it just seems to be sending pic messages. I have no other issues at all but this is driving me nuts. I also notice that any picture I do TRY to send says it is too big and converts it..not sure if that has anything to do with it at all but I would assume I would at least be able to send the pic msg to the other Galaxy S2 on my plan. If anyone has any idea how to fix this please let me know.

Can you send or receive pictures using other phones you own? If not, I suspect that there's an issue with AT&T MMS gateway. Call AT&T customer service to have them look at the problem. Here are the numbers:https://www.att.com/econtactus/callUs.jsp?serviceG

You have it turned off. Go to settings - Wireless & Networks <scroll all the way to the bottom> Mobile netowrks. Make sure the "Data enabled" box is checked. You may have to re-boot your phone by turning it off and leaving it off for 30 seconds. When you turn it back on should be good to go.

I had the same issue. I had disabled the mobile networking to ensure the son didn't run down his battery given he doesn't have a data plan. Once I turned it back out, the MMS worked again (without rebooting, at least on our Fusion 2)
