I am using HTC ARIA and have $5/200 msg bundle each month. I found sending and receiving MSN txt msg count through the 200. But I heard iphone user is free of any charge, is that true?

The IM client included on the phone uses SMS to send and receive IMs. You may be able to download a third-party IM client that will use data instead, which would not count toward your messaging bucket.
I am an AT&T employee and the postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent AT&T’s positions, strategies or opinions.

All (most..?) apps on the iPhone use data - hence the REQUIREMENT for a data plan. The MSN Messenger App on the iPhone uses data to send and receive IMs.
On the HTC ARIA, I am not sure. If the phone is an AT&T device, and MSN is pre-loaded on the phone, then it will use your text messages with every IM that is sent/received. If MSN is NOT pre-loaded on your device, then the application PROBABLY uses data, but don't quote me on that.
Basically, if the application IS pre-loaded, it uses SMS. If the application IS NOT pre-loaded on the device, then it generally uses DATA.
Hope this helps.
