what bit OS are you running 32 or 64 bit? On xp acm has a hard time working with 64 bit. if you are running 32 bit you could try a clean uninstall if there are any files on the pc from trying to install acm at all.
what type of air card are you using? are you trying to install off of the air card? If you are trying to install off of the air card and that still isnt working try downloading acm If you have already tried downloading it and that still isnt working try downloading the manufacture's software. Option or Sierra Wireless pending on what type of card you have.
you could also try a selective startup on the pc and then try to install acm or other client.
now if all this doesn't work you probably have some serious issues on the pc and would want to contact the manufacture of you pc.
hopefully something works. : /

Does it give you the option to cancel, abort or retry?? and does it when you click abort and does it say 'rolling back installation'??
If the answer is yes, are you using norton?? If again the answer is yes, than do the clean uninstall that was mentioned earlier. uninstall motorola driver installation, driver installer, then att communication manager (if they are there and in this order)

you could also try to download and install the msxml.msi from Microsoft's website. and also Install the latest version of Microsoft Installer.
above this you would have to contact att wireless laptop customer care

the problem is a "Error 1402", registry problem, when i try to INSTALL the COMUNICATION MANAGER, not the usb card.
and it's the newest version.
i can install the ACM version on the USB MErcury card, but not the new version, ok?
i try a updating the ACM, but appear the same error. i try a this:
1. clean instalation
2. safe mode instalation
3. booting just windows
4. ACM cleaner ( or something like that)
5. my log in have administrator privilege
6. upgrading the old version
