Just curious how tethering is working for you. Strongly considering doing this. Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Unfortunately it didn't work out very well. I discovered my signal for data was very weak where I work, and since that's where I needed to tether I had to go with another alternative. I have a T-Mobile mobile hot spot, it's worked out very well and a contract is not required. Tethering worked fine at home, but I didn't need it there because of my home network.

I used the mobile hotspot feature extensively during my internet outage after the storms on June 29th. It worked well for me. Did you have specific questions about mobile hotspot or are you only concerned with tethering? I never tether, I only use the mobile hotspot feature.

Tethering via an iPhone 4s worked very poorly. Connections could be made only about 1/4 of the time, and then dropped frequently. The tethering/hotspot option was thus useless on travel or in a pinch. I don't know if it was poor iPhone 4s hardware design or poor AT&T service, but I dropped it after a month of frustration.
Used the 4S for tehtering back during the perios recently with all the weather damage and it worked fine, although it was all business related and not entertainment related applications.

its really poor performance. specially while travelling in the train.. i see there are signal bars ( at least 3-4 bars) and 3G sign, but if I am watching movies ( netflix) or youtube, it keeps buffering. while at office in nYC, it works fine. I have problem at my home as well.
I hv to get a a verizon hotspot because of inconsistency in at&t tethering, now I use the hotspot while i am in train, it works perfect.
so thinking of switching to verizon from at&t.

For us, it's worked fine......until tonight. I couldn't connect the net book. I tried my daughters phone and she couldn't connect to me either. She toojk her phone outside (this house is in the country) and walk pretty far before it would see it. She then brought it back, I took it in and it connected right up. Both times I hooked it up was the same.
