This has been brought up by numerous users. As I do not work for AT&T, I am not sure why they chose 200 and 1500, but my bet is that those plans are based on usage patterns by most users.

It brings in a higher revenue stream. If somone sends texts to a few people each day its really easy to go over the 200. Next thing you know the only other viable option is to up the plan which brings in an easy $15 for them.
They are getting alot of sugg though so maybe a $10 plan is in the works. They used to offer one that gave unlimited in texting but got rid of it for some reason.

AT&T does offer unlimited text plans today.

I agree. A 500 message plan would work for me.
