Hi,
I have a problem with my Yahoo Messenger. Everything was perfect until yesterday. Today, I can't login to my account. I didn't change anything in my phone, it just happened. When I am trying to login, this message pops up: "LOGIN FAILED. PLEASE CHECK YOUR PHONE'S CONNECTION SETTINGS. (CODE-2)". My mobile internet works, so I don't se what is wrong.
Thanks for the help ![]()

I have PANTECH, model P7040P. I do not use any browser, I just use the AT&T Instant messaging tool. My Yahoo Messenger works, but not on my phone

Yahoo discontinued the use of the built in IM program. They sent out a mass text message warning people of this change, but they have not provided ANY kind of a solution.
Personally I think it's ridiculous for AT&T to stop using a program that they installed on our devices.

It's not just Yahoo. I cannot sign in to AIM, either -- same error message. (edit: same phone as Bredly)
Did you mean AT&T discontinued it?

AT&T has discontinued supporting instant messaging unless you upgrade to an IPhone or Blackberry AND purchase the more expense data plan to utilize web-based messaging on Yahoo, AOL, or Windows Live which means you basic have to buy a Smartphone and pay for internet access to IM now. So while your instant messaging on your phone may have worked for years, they have discontinued supporting this. You can call or chat with AT&T about this for 20-30 minutes if you wish but the bottom line is if you have an AT&T and do not have a Smartphone with internet data plan you can no longer use IM on your phone.

I completely agree and am very disgruntled about this! Do other carriers still offer IM on non-Smartphone plans?

Yes, AT&T has discontinued supporting instant messaging. Instead, you must upgrade to an AT&T smartphone like an iPhone or Blackberry AND also buy the more costly data plan to have web access. Then you would use the web-based chat on either Yahoo, AOL, or Windows Live.

that's what I call a bait-and-switch.
thanks, AT&T, for making me waste $60 on a phone that was advertised to have IM capabilities,
and then removing those capabilities and telling me that I have to get a more expensive phone and plan.
nope, that's not going to happen.
what's going to happen is that I'm going to willingly endure the annoyance and expense
of having to get a new phone on a different carrier,
and then telling all my friends and watchers why I did so.

Do any other carriers still offer IM as a phone function? I called Sprint to check that as an option but they only offer it as a web-based app if you have their data plan/internet access on the plan you buy. What about other carriers? Does any other carrier still have IM as a function on their phones without buying a big data plan? If yes, I will switch as my AT&T contract is up but using IM from my phone is very important to me.
