This is ridiculous. It is outrageous and illegal. I signed up and agreed to pay for THE FASTEST NATIONWIDE 3G NETWORK. Is it not illegal to charge consumers for a specific product and then give them something else? If I accept your money in exchange for building you a house but then I build you a house that is a tenth of the size house I told you I'd build for your money, it is stealing. This is Illegal, illegal, illegal. AT&T is discriminating against people who do not have access to wifi. If I understand this correctly, the top 5% of users are being penalized for using too much data on an UNLIMITED PLAN. Can someone please help me understand what the limitations of unlimited are? I don't think you need a mathematics degree to know what infinity means. If you read this and agree please call the customer support line every day. They will tell you that the computers are in charge and there is nothing they can do to lift the restrictions but everybody know the ROBOTS are not in control. If at&t can enable such restrictions then they can also reverse them. Ask to talk to the manager and they will tell you there is no supervisor on duty who will help you. They do not tell you that you can set up a manager call back. DO THIS PLEASE!! This is truly a case of big industry taking advantage of small consumers for the sake of greed.

WOW!! way to go AT&T...i hope you enjoy screwing over your long time loyal customers!!! i pay $60/month for data on 2 phones and the second line is not unlimited and don't use anywhere near the 2 GB i pay for on that line. and now i get my data usage throttled without a warning because i watch 45 minutes of TV a day on my phone during my lunch break. i am so ... at AT&T right now !!!! have used the same amount of data for the last year and nobody said anything about this to me when i renewed my contract 1 1/2 months ago....way to go at&T....that's awesome customer service you have!!!!! i hope they lose a lot of customers over this crap

I watch Netflix, use gps and have loved my Iphone -- the service with AT&T has been terrible and the only reason I've stayed with them for all these years is because of hassle to make a change. We have 7 iphone accounts and I am calling to find out when they are up. I am not going to put up with this. Why should I? There is a good thing called COMPETITION!

It is ridiculous. How can it be limited speed when it is an unlimited data plan? We need justice!

Let me see...so if I lived in a small village with 4 people in it using at&t, one of us would be screwed every month regardless of how much data we actually use??? What a load of bull. AT&T is blatenly abuses it's contractees. My phone has become useless!!! I mean 30 bucks for 2 gigs and later I can't even load a page??? If you {word filter evasion} on my lawn I'd be less insulted.
And their spokes person is a piece of work, "We promised unlimited but Didn't say how fast". Let's see you try to get new costimers with that slogan.
Boycott AT&T.

This just keeps getting worse.
My data was throttled last month. My billing cycle starts on the 10th of each month. On Feb 10th my phone worked normally again and I began using my phone as normal again. On Feb 16th I received the dreaded "warning text message" letting me know I was getting close to being in the top 5% again. I called ATT and they told me that I was at 1.9 Gigs of use and was in danger of being throttled, but the part about all this that I really love... they won't give you any information about how much data you can use and stay out of the top 5%. So I sucked it up looked at my phone in total disgust everytime I wanted to use it, and stayed away from data usage as much as I could. Today is Feb 20th and I just received a text message letting me know that I am now in the top 5% and my speeds have been reduced AGAIN. I logged on and checked my usage, I am at 2.3Gigs, so I limited my usage to a fraction of what it had been, and it didn't make any difference.
How the {word filter evasion} can I be in the top 5% after 6 days of usage. How the {word filter evasion} does 2.3 Gigs qualify me as needing to have data speeds reduced. The first month I was reduced I was over 5 Gigs. It still hacked me off, but I could at least see that I was using more than average data. This month I earned my throttling after only 10 days and 2.3 Gigs.
Basically, if you have an unlimited data plan, you can use your phone very heavily for ONE day and that will be enough to earn you reduced data speeds, regardless of what your total data usage is.
[Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].
BYE BYE ATT. Good luck throttling users in the age of technology.

Ok, so when you have funds in your banking account, when you get notifications about approaching a particular set limit, you have an option to see exactly how much you have left. How come for a service a pay every month for many years I have no clue how much data I got??? When I received my "warning" text I was afraid to usemy phone all together. I had no idea if I was half a gig away from being in the top 5%, a gig away or 10 gigs away. What's wrong with this picture??? It is some kind of harassment. Basically, they are scaring us into not using our phone at all since we receive zero transparancy when it comes to our data access.
In addition, after getting a warning at 1.5 gigs, I got an actual confirmation of being in the top 5% at 2 gig (total absurd on the side note) YET the lowest tier for the current data plans is 3 gig FOR THE SAME amount of money I pay for my unlimited plan. One thing is what they are doing is comletely unethical and unprofessional, another it is just blatantly unfair in monetary terms.
The company also offers 5 gig plan, so there is demad for that kind of usage, yet I am sure those people don't get throttled at even 4.5 gigs regardless of the congestion in the area or nationally ( still fuzzy on the details, every agent gives different information), otherwise why would those people even upgrade from 3 gigs to 5?
So what is left is that us, the most loyal customers of many years with not so convenient "unlimited" plans are being evicted from our rightfully owned services, because AT&T realized that they got us hooked on the conveniece of having portable internet and can charge more for already way overpriced services.
File a complaint at FCC.

so true. they just defined it in a very positive way... but come to think of it... whats happens once they landed on a 2GB or 10GB speed? THROTTLED! if AT&T does it, it means everyone is going to do it as well. and vice versa.

[Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate]. I was told a few months ago by AT&T that if I go over 5GB I would be slowed down, now this month I was slowed down after 3GB. This is (edited for word filter evasion), and I am sick of AT&T (edited for word filter evasion) over a so called "valued costumers"!(edited for word filter evasion) AT&T!

Won;t do any good - the 3GB for normal 3g cap and 5GB for lte cap are here to stay, not a scam, reads the conditions of the feature.
