I'm in the Army and I'm temporarily stationed away from my baseball team's market area so I downloaded the MLB app to watch games while I'm away. Long story short after about 3 games in 5 days I reached the data limit and for the next 25 days I've had to deal with slow everything.
I think the switcharoo with the terms of service was dirty pool, I've had AT&T for about 8 years and put up with spotty service and paid more because they made up for it in cust svc whenever I had a problem, but now I'm willing to look around to other service providers.
There may not be another provider that has everything I want right now, but for awhile AT&T did. I know I "agreed" to the terms switch by re-upping my contract, but if they can change the rules around whenever it suits them, why can't I do the same?
Done complaining now...

Nothing earth-shattering here, just voicing my displeasure for AT&T's policy.

your only choice for unlimited data anymore in the top 3 is Sprint, and their speeds are just like the thottle speed you get from att all the time

Sprint is currenlty upgrading their networks to 4G LTE. It's in San Antonio now and is awesome. But instead of paying Sprint $90 + per month for unlimited, I use Ting, which uses the Sprint Network.
I too have been burned by AT&T's "Unlimited data". Ting doesn't charge you for tethering! Just pay for the data you use. No contracts, no throttling, great customer service. I have a Samsung Transform Ultra that I can tether 5 devices to... My co-worker just bought their latest phone, (the Galaxy SIII). It has 4G LTE and you can tether 10 devices at a time!
I switched and I'm averaging about $38 / month for two phones. You only pay for what you use.
Data costs about $20 / gig.
$50 off any new device from Ting: VTIMRK6
If you just want to try them out, the cheapest device is $20 (kyocera brio - looks like a blackberry, great for texting) with the $50 coupon code. VTIMRK6
Did I mention 4G LTE? Blazing fast.
