Getting following spam text messages from following numbers. I believe the numbers belong to AT&T. I am in Australia and I’m receiving them on my Australian mobile phone which is connected with Telstra Australia – www.telstra.com.au
This one came from {Personal content removed}.

you are assuming that att is involved, just becasue they issued the numbers does not mean they have anything to do with it - someone got your number in their database - no carrier polices the usage of the billions of phone numbers that are issued unless requested by a unit that has the authorized to require them to give it.

I’m not saying that AT&T is responsible for spamming me. However, the carrier that first issued it is a good place to start inquiries.
As for my number, well they could have drawn it out of hat for all I know.

not quite sure what you are looking for from the carrier, they would not rlease any information to the public anyway

I’m not jumping up and down demanding that they do something, well not yet anyway.
I thought any carrier would want to know that they systems are being used by spammers. And, be provided with any information that may enable them to stop it.
I take it company reps are in here.

G'day from Australia. I'm the same Ben_F who has been looking at this thread on the Telstra CrowdSupport Forums - Spam Text
What we are looking for is the ability to stop spammers in their tracks. Unlike the US, we don't get charged for incoming SMS/Calls, so its not a cost impact to us, its just really (Really!) annoying.
Can someone point the OP in the direction of where we can report this to if we are not a US Resident? Whilst I don't think the OP want's information from the carrier, it is in the Carrier's interests to ensure that their customers are complying with the spam laws in the US (which I believe covers Spam SMS).

[roviding that the person / company sending the spam is a US based organzzation, not unusual for them to be a foreign organization with a US based or for that fact and country in the world based location - a large protion of email spam comes form US based registered domain names and the holding company is based in the pacific rim, or one of the europena countries that have no regualatins regarding junk mail and spam text. One of the largest spam emailers was just shut down and the company was based out of the eurpean continent with domasin registered throught the world
