I currently have an aT&T Family Plan with $50 700 voice minutes, Unlimited Mobile to any Mobile calling, $30 Unlimited Messaging, three $30 Unlimited data plans, with two $25 2GB data plans, plus five $10 line fees. We get a discount for work as well. all and all we pay about $250 a month for our plan. We also have an iPad 2 on it's own Pre-Paid $15 250MB data plan. We'd like to access more data on the iPad 2. I'm considering switching to a Mobile Share plan. We don't use a lot of voice minutes, we use about 500 anytime minutes in a month between the five of us. We send about 10000 messages total in a month. Each Unlimited data plan line uses about 500MB a month. The 2GB data plans are teenagers, who use a lot of data, almost their entire data plan. We're considering switching the teenagers to the 300MB to save money if we don't move to Mobile Share. They won't go over because if they do, they'll lost their iPhones. Would you recommend we switch to a Mobile Share plan? If so, which one? advice would be great!

Looks like a mobile share plan would cost you about the same. Without your discount, your bill would be $270/month. If you got the 10GB shared plan, your cost would be $120 for the plan and $150 for the 5 smartphones for a total of $270. You could drop down to the 6GB shared plan but that only reduces the cost $5 since the per smarphone charge is higher. Assuming you got the same level of discount, your bill would be about the same. The good thing is that for $10 extra you can add the Ipad and share that 10GB.

90.00 - 3 unlimited data
50.00 - 2 2GB data
40.00 - 4 additional lines
15.00 - 250 MB ipad
--------
285 Approx @ 11.5GB of data - figuring the 3GB thottle cap of the 3 unlimited plans
You are right in the middle between the 10GB and the 15GB plan
10GB
120.00 - 10 GB data
150.00 - 5 phones unlimited vocie and text @ 30.00 each
010.00 - Ipad
---------
285.00 for all 6 devices sharing 10GB
drop to 6 GB
090.00 - 6 GB dara
175.00 - 5 phones unlimited voice and text @ 35.00
010.00 - Ipdat
---------
265.00 for all 6 devices sharing 6GB
It has been mentioned in another thread that the corproate discount applies to shared data only, so it depends on what your discount precentage is

My discount is 21%, I'm not sure how that's applied. Based on money and usage would the Mobile Share plan be worth it?

According to what is posted in another there the discount is applied to the shared data only, so it would be 21% off the 90 or 120

That makes since. But based on my family's usage is it worth it? I mean we still have unlimited data!

you have to make the decision, unlimited data on 3G is throttled at 3G on lte at 5GB your prices look about the same so that is a wash.

I know, but at least at that point i'm not paying an average fee, but I've never hit the 1GB mark either.

I'm really unsure of the plan, any "at the End of the Day" advice is welcomed.

Take a look at the Mobile Sharing rates and do a little comparison to determine if the new plans would save you any money.

Like wingrider said, it's ultimately up to you.
For me personally, I like the idea of Mobile Share because it's less stuff to keep track of. I too have the unlimited data but will likely be switching to the Mobile Share plan.
One of the benefits of the Mobile Sharing plan is the ability to tether devices since the plan includes Mobile Hotspot. That's not something that comes with the unlimited plan.

Yes, and having the hotspot feature would be nice. My biggest concern is I'd be paying around the same thing, but currently I have unlimited data (3GB of full speed data), and I wouldn't if I switched. If you could cap the usage if it's going beyond your plan's limit, I'd be welcomed to that, but that's not a feature and so I'm stuck if we end up using more data in a month with Hotspot (and I'd assume we would.)

That would be unfortunate if they are only going to aply the (presumably corporate) discounts on the shared data part. That'll push me to verizon as I have the option for similar corp discounts there. Actually the "access" discount is 1% less than the "shared data" discount.

Your FAN discount will apply to the service (data/voice/text) charges, but will not apply to the equipment charge (the charge to add devices to the plan).

I've talked with an AT&T salesman and financially the Mobile Share plan, because of my discount, will save me around $20 monthly. So I think I'll be switching.

Congrats, in my case my bill would increase by about 60.00
