Hey, quick question. Is there any way to remove the FROM,SUBJ,MSG fields that get sent as a sms message when the message is sent from an email? I never use them and could use the space to send a larger message.
Thanks!

No there is not.
Have you considered sending it as a MMS instead of a text message?

You must have the first generation iPhone if your doesn't MMS.
But that brings up another question. If your sending it to an iPhone, why even bother with SMS/MMS for long messages since the iPhone has email capability and all iPhones have a data connection?

Why can't it be a different device? If it was for the iPhone then you can use push notice which all iPhones have. If it has to be MMS and it's a multiplatform then use a different device as MMS works on other phones as well. Some more information on the app you are trying to delevop would help.
You seem to be everywhere! I see how you're reaching 3K posts in only 5 months now. I'm having a little trouble understanding what you're saying... Probably because of the lack of details. It can be a different device... thats the whole point. Our team has already gone over that SMS would be the optimal solution for now. It's the fastest form of delivery on the widest variety of phones, and that's what matters. MMS doesn't work on first gen iPhones and people without a expanded messaging package, which sadly happens to be about 1/4 of our client base, and push notifications only work in select phones, such as iPhones... and the push feature isn't as fast as we hoped it would be yet.

This is what I would do. Since it's multi-platform just give the iPhone Push Notice it's better that way for the iPhones and they will not need a package, and its more reliable than SMS from what I have gathered. For everything else you may be able to use a different port like what AIM does to send phones. May require you to do more backend work(hidden costs).

If you require SMS your going to have to develop with that limitation and size restriction.
SMS msssages that are larger than the 160 charater limit are broken up into multi-part messages. Some phones can piece them back together to form a single large message while other display it in multiple parts. Either way it will count as multiple messages if your over the limit.

Yeah, I guess we're going to have to. For people that have out app installed on thier mobile device, and if their device supports it, our app lets the SMS bypass the usual SMS app on their phone and is handled by our program, so that will help with the clutter.
And Doppler, because its multi-platform.. thats the very reason I can't center the transmission algorithm around iPhone push... because.. of exactly that. It's an 'iPhone' push... it'll require additional un-needed alternative ways for other devices. I can always center it on the SMS, then have push and MMS as the optionals. Btw.. iPhone push notifications sometimes takes a couple of minutes to send.
Anywho.. yea, thanks guys.
