russian SMS from Atrix (Android)

Not sure what you're asking, but the last I've checked the only way to have a Russian SMS delivered from one AT&T subscriber to another was to use iPhone-to-iPhone SMS. For me Russian SMS hasn't worked since 2006 or so, prior to that it worked every which way, including email-to-SMS.

I can send SMS in Russian from iPhone to Atrix, but not the other way. Is it because of a) my Atrix need additional configuration b) Atrix has an issue with Russian font c) Android has an issue with Russian font any thoughts? thanks pasha

I honestly don't know. It is most likely that it's AT&T's fault in processing UTF-encoded messages because this problem is common to other non-Latin languages, there're often posts here about similar issues with Chinese SMS, for example. Also, the problem seems to be limited (for the most part) to SMS between US networks, at the same time as I was not able to send Russian messages to another AT&T customer I could quite easily exchange them between the same phones as long as one of them had a foreign SIM in it, making it hard for me to believe the device is at fault.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but the only thing I can think of is calling AT&T customer support and complain.

paha I can help. I too have an Atrix and had the same question. what I did to send and receive Russian text messages is

1. Download Russian keyboard

2. Download Handcent SMS

3. Download special support for SMS on Russian

That should do it. If you have any questions email me to {personal info edited} if English is hard to understand I speak Russian.

i called att, they gave me motorola's number for atrix. motorola said that russian language is not supported.
