When I get my Galaxy Note, will it be smart enough to switch automaticaly from 3G when I'm driving home from work, to wi-fi when I get home?

If the phone is configured to access that wifi network it will, but also be aware that the phone is smart enough to switch back to cell data if there are issues with the wifi connection or it goes into sleep mode that turns off the wifi radio

Thanks, those caveats are good to know. The icons at the top of the home screen will show whether the phone is G3ing or WiFi'ing at any given time, right?

That's right.
Also, you may want to verify that your phone doesn't switch off wifi (and go back to cellular data) when it "wakes up" after it goes idle.

I have a question...I suppose. I manually switch my Samsung Nexus S to wifi or 3G. I don't know why, but I just do.
My question is, if I DON'T maunally switch it off and on and just let it do it's thing, doesn't the phone continuously search for a wifi connection, using the the battery quicker??
