How do I keep getting large and small amounts of data put on my usage when I am at home using my wifi??
Just recently I had 120 mb transfer at 12:30 a.m.
I did not have any apps running at this time and besides, i was on my home wifi.
THen yesterday i had another 1MB transfer when I was at home making supper. My wifi is on all the time!!
THis seems like an att scam. I have tons of entries and data usages being logged when I am at home on my wifi.
I have limited data plan and now after this 120 MB transfer they are charging me for going over my limit when I have not gone over my limit in 2 years of service!!
What is going on with this?

Your wi-fi can disconnect without you knowing it. You may need to contact your internet provider if this is an issue. Also, some Android phones don't stay connected. I would check that as well. If the issue persists you may contact Customer Care to troubleshoot the issue.

In a lot of the cases if your phone goes into hibernate the wifi turns off, for example on a iphone unless it is plugged into a charger when the phone hibernates it turns off the wifi

My internet is not going off. Many times I see the times of the data transfered are the EXACT same time I am working at home and using the internet.

"Hibernate"??? What the heck is that? I have been using my phone for 2 years and have not heard that term yet. How is that different from a locking screen?
Also, so wi-fi disconnects but 3G doesn't??? How convenient for the ATT billing department.
This whole thing is sounding like a billing scam.
I am very much interested in pricing other companies with unlimited data as my 2 years is about up.

yell at the manufacturer of the phones, they design it for battery life.
Hibernate = goes into a inactive state where everything that is not required for the device to function as a phone turns off, again old technology going back to the first laptop that was released.
you will find the exact same functionality in the phones no matter where you go, it is a design specification by the engineers that envisioned the device, as far as unlimited data - Sprint, cricket and a few other of the MVNO carriers still have unlimited data, verizon dropped theirs last year and even they put limits on it.

As for data usage-- IDK what kind of phone you have but if possible, turn off data/cellular and only turn it on when you need it. If you have an app store download and use (and monitor closely) an app called "My Data Manager" i am amazed that it's a free app. It shows wifi/roaming/celluar usage by app, hour, day, plan, and even area. I just wish there were a way to d/l the app data to a spreadsheet so I can send it to ATT when I dispute the 1.6gb of "usage" I didn't use.
