I know this has already been beaten into the ground on a similar topic, I'm simply restating the obvious. It's bad enough that this AT&T server side problem has gone on for months and months, but the fact that AT&T are so vague about it, makes it even worse.
How about you at least COME OUT WITH IT and officially make public and let people know you're having problems instead of making your customers go fruitlessly digging for answers?! Just that little bit of effort on your part would at least show you have a pulse and give a crap.
I work as a pc technician for a living and about 8 months ago I started getting calls from people stating they were unable to access their email accounts.
When I asked who their ISP was, they all said "AT&T". Not smarter broadband, or Comcast or Verizon…AT&T. At first I went through all the email server settings and made sure those were all good. Checked account usernames and passwords, made sure their bill had been paid, that sort of thing. LOL Initially, I was able to "Fix" the problem by downloading alternate email programs (e.g., Windows Live) or I could reset their account information. That was obviously just a "Band aide".
Eventually the same server side account rejection loop started up again and the calls would start up again. Maybe some people have it in them to capitalize on a "re-occurring problem" like this ...but I'm not one of them. But apparently…you are. The fact that you don’t have qualified technical support people capable of dealing with this is pathetic. Sending customers who already pay for your broken service to a “pay for technical support service” outside of AT&T… is not only embarrassing but downright criminal.
Why should any paying customer have to go on a tedious hunt for information in order to solve your problem? Only to “maybe” end up on this forum, have a moment to rant and then be told by some robot person to “Send them a PM”? Are you kidding?! LOL
I have no grand notions that my own little rant hear will effect change or bruise the gilded pocket linings of some AT&T Uber-CEO… but it sure does feel good to express my utter and total dissatisfaction with your absolute ineptness and all around technical suckiness.
Get some techs with actual technical education and experience on the job. Try to at least look like you give a crap and fix your {word filter evasion} email server problems before 2013!!!

I totally agree with you. Called AT&T numerous times and get the same run around. When I asked to speak to a tier 2 support person, I wait on hold for about 10 minutes and get disconnected. Spent many hours of frustration on the phone with support and get absolutely no where. Doesn't AT&T care about this? Since most people use an email client, Outlook is probably used by 70% or more customers, wouldn't you think they would have this fixed by now? Would their stockholders care if customers started dropping their service and move to a different provider? Does anyone from AT&T monitor this site?

Suggest you try the following.
- Login to your ATT account
- Click on member center
- Enter your user ID & password
- Enter & new screen will pop up asking for password. Do so & press enter
- Login to email program & you should be able to receive & send mail.
Please reply if this works. After weeks of frustration I finally found this round about method to have email work.
Good luck

Thanks for the info John.
However, we are unable to log in to our account, and therefore cannot do anything that you recommend that follows that step. My immediate solution is to use GMAIL, but that still does not help me access my U-verse account information.

AT&T/Yahoo managed to somehow delete my wife's email and now tell me we can't reuse that email address for 90 days. What a load of crap. She's been using the same email for 11 years now they delete it and she can't get it back. All of business correspondence has that email on it which is no good now. They had both of us locked out of our email and I finally got mine back because it was the primary on the DSL account. It doesn't help to get pass level one because the answer is the same. Sorry you'll have to wait 90 days to reuse that email. Time to look for someone who won't pull the rug out from under you and essentially say it's your problem now we have done the least we can. I think I hear Windstream calling.
