HELP! YAHOO.COM EMAIL HACKED AND I CAN'T CHANGE THE PASSWORD [ Edited ]

Sunday my xxxxxx@yahoo.com email account was hacked. I wanted to at first change the password, 2 frustrating hours and being told I would be billed to change my password I gave up and deleted all of my contacts in yahoo mail. Didn't help. I loaded a PC Cleaner and hope this will catch any possible worms linked with my outlook. I cannot change my password in my yahoo.com email account or even delete it. When I called Yahoo, they told me go to AT&T and back and forth the conversations went with still no help. I cannot even delete my whole profile without AT&T customer service involved, I am certain they will tell me I cannot, waiting on hold again...been 15 minutes already with no one answering. someone please help me!

Same problem here. No matter what I do I can't change my password in Live mail.  I can do it through the hotmail windows live but not through the windows live client where you enter your pop settings etc

 I can log into live mail then ANOTHER login box(with keys icon) asks me for my password. I have to enter old password to access mail. Problem is it's been hacked and everyone in my email address book is getting spam from me. Why is something so simple so difficult to do?

I have the similar problem for almost a year now and no one can help.  I just want to delete/terminate that email account.  Here is what I did more than a month ago and still nothing changed.

Attempt 1: I chatted with 3 different ATT groups and nobody can help.   Just tell me to read the web pages.  Did not do anything to fix the problem.  Maybe it is too complicate to them.

Attempt 2: Tried to terminate the Yahoo! email account as instructed in http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/account/account-11.html  (this is from an ATT web page).  Selected the 'Account Termination' and logged into my bellsouth email account.   After logged in got 'You must call SBC Customer Care at 1-877-SBC-DSL5 in order to cancel your account.'  

Attempt 3: Called the ATT support number 1-877-SBC-DSL5.  All I can do is talking to a machine.  Could not talk to a real person.  No available voice prompt to choose from to resolve the issue at hand.

Attempt 4: Typed in my simple request in the service survey from ATT for my Attempt 1.  Nothing happened even with the rating to the lowest.  The survey to their service is a joke.  Just waste my time.

Attempt 5: Got on this forums and try to get help.

IS IT SUCH A DIFFICULT PROBLEM TO FIX???????????

I'm having the same problem.  My yahoo email account was hacked last week and I cannot get in to delete the account or change the password.  I've been on the phone, no exaggeration, for at least 6 hours with AT&T trying to resolve this issue and no one can help me.  AT&T tells me to call UVERSE and UVERSE tells me to call AT&T.  I've talked to sales, tech support, dial-up tech support, online tech support chat, and even 2nd Tier Tech Support.  I STILL CANNOT DO ANYTHING with the account, and in the meantime, the hackers are still able to hack away.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2nd Tier Tech Support sent me a link to a help article on how to change my password on the account.  The problem is, I cannot access the change password area.  I too just get an error message that says I need to call AT&T.  I'm at my wit's end and I don't know where to turn to next.  I'm thinking maybe emailing the consumer help reporter at my local News Station to see if they can help me.

Hello, i too need assistance, i have been given the run around from both at&t and yahoo mail. when i contact yahoo, they tell me its a yahoo issue, when i contact yahoo, they tell me that they are under a contract not to modify any accounts that are linked with at&t, i go back to at&t and they refuse to help again. please, it has been several months and no one has been able to help me. i am unable to private message any at&t users on this forum.

I am almost come to the conclusion that either Yahoo or AT&T tech support are incapable of or unwilling to resolve this simple problem.  Resorting this issue to a local News Station or any external help is a good idea.

I just want to terminate my hacked email account.  HELP!!!

Another one here.  What's going on, ATT?  Why are all your customers getting their email accounts hacked and why aren't you doing anything about it?  I will not only switch to comcast for my DSL needs but I will switch to Verizon when my cell phone is up for renewal.

This needs to get fixed pronto!  I got more help from gmail when my account was hacked and that was open source!

Just want to change the password and it's confusing.

As for my YAHOO password - somehow it is merged with SBCGLOBAL OLD, OLD, OLD account. I did not merge, I did not ASK to have merged. But ATT can't seem to help. They need to quit "merging" accounts when we didn't request it. Good luck to all that are having same issue!

In an attempt to change my email password I navigate to the upper left corner on my Yahoo mail page where my name is and tap the drop arrow and select "Account Info". While in the Yahoo mail account info I log in with my password, my picture is in the login window, and I sign in.  I then navigate to the "Sign-in and Security" section and hover my mouse over the menu item "Manage passwords and account security"  the link URL is att.com/olam/passwordIsp  however when I click the link it redirects me to: uversecentral3.att.com/static/interstitialDsl.html?origination_point=yahoo&flow_entry_point=pwd.  This page does not get me to the change email password window as shown in the help video.  Since I have been hacked it is important to change my password ASAP.

The most stupid thing is if you do a google search for " yahoo mail hacked passwords" you will see many YouTube videos on how to hack a Yahoo mail account. Looks like they need to beef up security?

I also have had the same frustration for several months. My Yahoo email password cannot be changed and I cannot modify address locked in the profile. AT&T took over control of my Yahoo account. I get messages from AT&T that informs me my account is being accessed from Russia, Pakistan, Ecuador, Canada, USA from all over the world almost daily. AT&T advices I change password but I have no way of doing it. 

In 2007-8 sometime I installed an AT&T DSL box in an office I worked temporarily, when I did somehow my yahoo address got linked with the AT&T.net link associated with the DSL service and since then AT&T hijacked my Yahoo account that I have had since 1993. I cannot longer control my Yahoo account. This is very frustrating as almost daily spam mail is being sent through my yahoo account to promote viagra sales for Pfizer, Lilly and other companies which I suspect are indirectly involved in this as primary beneficiaries of spam mail. I do not remember the DSL box password as it was several years ago and the spam mail started problem started like 16 months ago. I never authorized AT&T to link and take over my yahoo account. They asked for my email address and they just assumed my email was theirs, very, very frustrating.

I cant believe after reading all the posts in this threat that AT&T has not been able to solve the problem. Please help me modify my Yahoo account password and address as I am worried of identity theft and account has important information. I am planning deleting all information but do not want to keep my address showing. I do not remember the password on the att.net old DSL account and the old business is gone, gone 4 years ago.

My Email was hacked by someone in Japan on 04/13/2012 .I found this out in checking my Yahoo login history. 

All the instructions to change the Yahoo password don't work. I changed my password to log into Att.net account but can't change the Yahoo mail login password.

 I received a few Mail dameons for mail I didn't send back on April 14, 20012. Since then I haven't seen anymore Mail Dameons. I'm concerned because some of Yahoo Email folders contain stored transaction records. I hope I don't have to delete all my Email folders.

My email was hacked, and I managed to change my password and report the problem via web to AT&T Yahoo!

HOWEVER, today I cannot access either my sbc or att accounts and instead am told my account has been suspended for violating TOS! And there is NO contact information provided for resolving the issue. I spoke with AT&T about another matter today, and even SHE could not find any phone number for me to call Yahoo! about this. She suggested I Google, which brought me here.

Any solutions for this one? Luckily, I still have a gmail accounte, but my two primary email addies are kaput.

Hey, don't feel bad I've been going through almost the same thing. I've been going through a lot of crap lately with my account. First, my phone usage details state that I've been sending internet media every hour on the hour and I never did any of that. I then changed my email, phone number, phone, and my phone number and the problem is yet to be resolved. They told me it was my apple id, which it wasn't. I've spent numerous hours on the phone and in the store trying to fix this problem and nothing is working
