Hello Craigslue,
If the mails are missing from your AT&T mail account inbox, which you access via att.yahoo.com/mail, one of the reason could be that the email account has been configured and emails are downloaded in email program (Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Mac Mail etc.. ). There is a feature available which allow users to access their emails in both Email Program and webmail.
If you do not have the feature "Leave a copy of message on the server" enabled, then the original email will be downloaded in the email client from web server, leaving your online inbox empty.
You may refer to one of the topic available in the forum: "How do I check my AT&T Yahoo! emails both on Email Client as well as on AT&T Yahoo! site?"

i did some checking and not sure what the results mean. I have 2 PC's and the one with XP I rarely use anymore has 1 email account in Outlook. The inbox in Outlook has all of my emails in the inbox and my AT&T mail inbox is empty. I got on my laptop, the PC I use the most these days with Vista and my Windows Mail has no accounts set up on it. I just checked my AT&T mail inbox and the emails that I had gotten since my post are gone again! Do I need to set up an account in Windows Mail to stop my emails from disappearing? Seems like it would be a problem on the other side if both PC's are missing emails in AT&T mail but the XP PC is not missing mail in Outlook. The first time I lost emails was probably around 6 months ago? And just recently 2 times. I don't know if this makes any difference but it looks like I have all of my sent messages.

I think I may have found my problem after reading some other post's and just realized that I had my recent emails on my laptop until I went and checked out my lessor used PC with the Outlook account. I just changed the setting on my Outlook to leave a copy on the server. Hopefully this corrects the problem.
Thank You

Hello Craigslue,
Thank you for replying the post and trying the suggestion provided in this forums.
If you wish to check the emails through AT&T web mail, please, make sure that 'Leave a copy of message on the server', should be checked in both Outlook (Windows XP) and Windows mail (Windows Vista) settings.
To check 'Leave a copy of message on the server' in Windows Mail on a Windows Vista computer, do the following:
- Click the Start button.
- Click on All Programs.

- Click on Windows Mail.

- Click on the Tools menu.
- Click on Accounts.

- Click on the account that needs to be verified.
- Click on the Properties button.

7. In Properties, click on the Advanced tab.
8. Make the following changes on the Advanced tab.
9. Check the box to the left of Leave a copy of messages on the server.
If you experience any difficulty while making the changes, it is recommended that you contact AT&T eChat support.

My inbox email keeps disappearing as well. I have Windows 7 Ultimate and in the All Programs list I don't see any programs listed that deal with email ( such as Windows Mail, Outlook, etc.) What do I need to do in order to get my emails to stay put?
