I am completely locked out of my free att.net email account powered by yahoo and no one that I've spoken to on the phone has been able to help.
When I try to reset the password, it just wants to mail me temporary password to the email account that I can't get in to.
It won't accept the answers to my security questions either, so I am at a loss. I've had this email address for years and really don't want to lose everything.
Can someone help me?
Thank you.

I am having the same problem. My att.net free email account has locked me out and I can't find any help resolving the problem., This email address id is over 20 years old and I don't want to loose it. I have sev other accounts, but I use this
one most of the time, Could it have too much data on it?...I don't know because I can't get in and can't find any help.
If I do resolve this, I will put in the inf.....if you happen to be able to resolve this, please send out your solution,

I'm sorry that you're having trouble accessing your email account.
Please take a look at this link for assistance with resetting your password: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB4134
If you are not able to reset your password using the steps outlined in that article and you provided an alternate email address & zip code when you created the account, please send me a private message with the following information:
Full Name:
Phone Number:
Best Time to Call:
Email Address with issue:
Alternate Email Address entered when account was created:
Zip Code entered when account was created:
If you did not enter an alternate email and Zip Code when you created your email account you must create a new email account. We are not able to reset passwords for email accounts without one or both of those pieces of information as they verify that you are the owner of the account.
To send a private message, you can either click on the link in this message or click on the little blue envelope in the upper right hand corner, click "compose new message" and type my username in the "Send To" field.
As of May 1st, I am no longer serving as the Community Manager for AT&T. This account will no longer be able to accept private messages. If you have an account related issue, please send a private message to ATTCustomerCare.

Thank you for your responce.
I tried the link you left.
I have been at this site before. Once I inter my ID it takes me to a screen asking me to choose security question to answer. Then it asks for my zip code. Once I enter my zip, it now says I have too many tries and have been locked out.
The last time I was looking into this problem, I reached someone by phone. He had me download something that allowed him to access my computer. He didn't seem as professional as some help I have had before, anyway after some activity he said he would have to speak to his supervisor. Then he said my computer was in "crisis" and I should either go to Best Buy and spend over 300$ or go thru somethingelse for somewhat less. I told him I was broke. He said "you don't even have $100 to spend" I told him we were already in financial problems and behind 2 house payments and struggling. He hung up on me.
TO ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM.....BE WARE!!!
Now I'm not sure if I can trust anyone. This email address is important to me since it is my main email. If you can help that would be great. But if I have to pay to get this free email address re established, I'll have to do without it and move on.

I'm sorry to hear about the experience you had on the phone. Was it AT&T you called? I can't imagine anything you'd be able to buy to help with this issue.
You don't have to pay to get email service but you do need to be able to provide those two peices of information (zipcode and alternate email address) for us to help.
If you didn't set up that information initially or don't remember; you will need to create a new email address.

I have been locked out too. Also, I can't use Microsoft Outlook. I called the At&T support number. A recording said there was trouble in our area. At&T is working on it. Oh boy...

Janev - Are you not able to change your password or are you having trouble sending/receiving from Outlook?

Okay that link says it's been moved. I had this issue at my job 2 weeks ago. My boss' email was locked out. After about 5 separate phone calls, I finally reached a level 2 support tech who had to download the old password program to help. It seems ridiculous to me that there is no support for free email through AT&T. We don't access the internet through AT&T but the attorneys all wanted to keep their sbcglobal.net emails because it's on all the letterhead, the business cards, etc. The password reset program that is currently on the site DOES NOT WORK for this situation. Getting new emails is unacceptable in this law firm.
If one technician knew to download the old software on her end to help me, why don't they all? Currently I now have another attorney whose email locked him out, I have been on hold with AT&T for 52 minutes because the foreign technician can't help me so she's "getting someone who can." This is absolutely frustrating and someone from AT&T or yahoo should be able to help but no one but one employee.

Which link are you referring to when you say "that link has been moved"?
I'm sorry you're having difficulty with the free email accounts. If you're not able to get a resolution on the phone, please try the following:

If you are not able to reset your password using the steps outlined in that article and you both entered and recall your alternate email address and zipcode, please send me a private message (link) with the following information:

I also just got locked out. I was able to go in and change my password, but it still won't let me in. I'm told there is no phone support anymore. Do I have to abandon this account?
