Here are my email issues:
a. Had ATT/SBC Global DSL service many years ago, I believe in 2006.
b. Once I stopped, using ATT DSL service for my internet provider, I never went back to using any ATT DSL services.
c. My daughter continued to use her Yahoo email, since is was associated with the original ATT DSL account her Yahoo! login is "username@sbcglobal.net"
There were no problem until her email account was "hacked or compromised" in the last 10 or so days.
Facts:
Once this was discovered, I immediattely tried to help her change her password.
- Had to go to att.com and use my old username@sbcglobal.net account, my daughter's email is a sub-account, to change her password. This worked
- Since her account was hacked, her "reply-to" and "forward email" addresses were set to an unknowne email address and these setting were removed.
- Once this was done, she started to receive emails again, but her Inbox and Contacts were wiped clean or deleted.
I worked with an ATT customer service rep to help accomlish all of the steps above.
Bad news: Chicken and egg situation
a. I submitted an Inbox and Contacts restoration request with Yahoo! and they responded by indicating that the email account in question is still managed by ATT and must be "unmerged" with ATT.
b. I called ATT Customer Service and after 30 minutes help, it was determined that my daughter's account was not managed by ATT and I need to work with Yahoo!
I must not be the only one with this problem, can anyone provide and steps in resolving this issue?
Thanks,
