For 6 years I have not had a problem using att.yahoo.com email with different versions of outlook. On 3/10/2012 I could not send or recieve email from my accounts using Outlook. I discovered only if I login and logout using web mail for each account could I then sent and recieve emails thru outlook. I have spent numerous hours on the phone with AT&T support attempting to fix the problem and have had no resolution.
Is there anyone else experiencing these issues? Any suggestions are appreciated. Anyone have a corporate AT&T phone number?

It appears ATT is having trouble with their e-mail servers that they won't admit to. It not Outlook 2010, it's all Outlook versions and 3rd party e-mail software. I've experienced numerous problems over the last the few weeks. There's numerous reports on the boards all with the same theme.....e-mail server problems. ATT better get their act together soon or it's Dish Network for me.

Same problems here. Couldn't access email Saturday, March 17th for 1-2 hours. Starting working again and then couldn't access email Sunday, March 18ths for 2 hours (so far).
Support insists it's an Outlook problem. Would even consider it to be a server problem.
How do we contact Yahoo directly?

After 6 days Outlook finally started working only to find out this morning that it is not. It's not an Outlook problem as they would like you to believe. It's a server problem. Come on ATT fix the problem that you know you have! I am going to attempt to call customer service......NOT TECH SUPPORT.......today!

I have the exact same problem. On the morning of 03/10, Outlook 2010 no longer works for me. I called ATT and went throught all tests. No good... Tried the following steps, still bad. Call ATT after reading this post and ATT insisted it's not their problem. As of last night, still not working. These are what I had done....
1) Remove and reinstall MS Office - Not working
2) Start a new Outlook email - Not working
3) Reboot laptop back to out of box and reinstall MS Office - Not working
4) Changed
Incoming Mail Server (POP3) is set to inbound.att.net
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) to outbound.att.net
Incoming server (POP3) should be set to port 995
Outgoing server (SMTP) should be set to port 465
Before, it was
pop.att.yahoo.com
smtp.att.yahoo.com
5) Don't waste your time if you have similar issues.
After reading this post, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with my laptop... Anyone has any ideas beside waiting for miracle?

I have tried everything also. Still the same result. The login and password will not authenticate when using Outlook. This is a server problem and At&t's end. Maybe if we keep posting someone will probally get the drift. Come on At&t FIX YOUR PROBLEMS!!!!!!

I have the same issue. It started this afternoon (3-19-12). I had my Windows live set up as incoming pop.att.yahoo.com. It quit sending. I changed incoming and outgoing to inbound.att.net and outbound.att.net. Changed the ports, etc. Then I started getting hundreds of emails I'd already recieved. About 1600. Did manage to get four emails to go out. Then guess what, it quit working again! I've changed it back to what it was (I think), but no go. Very frustrating. I didn't want to call customer service because last time I called them, I was told I would have to pay for them to check it out. I am soo angry.

Same here. I can get email fine on my iPhone and my Ipad, but not from Outlook 2010. And yes just like everyone else this was just random. A few days ago, I kept getting the box to enter my password. I went through the trouble of resetting it thinking that would fix it. I also changed all of the settings (inbound/outbound). Deleted and re-entered. None of these steps worked. Please AT&T fix this problem. It is really, really annoying and random. Another mail account is working just fine in Outlook, of course it's my junkmail acct. What's up with that?

I'm grateful for all of these posts about the Att and Yahoo e-mail problem, especially since I was spending hours changing settings, etc. to make it work. What can we do about it? A tech 2 at ATT even told me to call Outlook to get the problem fixed. Are there any of you that believe that the problem is Outlook? I have a tech support person who has told me that he has a major number of clients having this same problem and it's a server issue between Att and Yahoo. I discovered on my own after hours and hours of changing settings, etc. that if I will go into Yahoo mail and log and and then log back in that THEN I can Outlook will pull up mail. It might work for an hour or 30 minutes before i have to go do the "work around" again. This is very irritating. Actually I'm using Outlook 2007 and probably should post under that subject too.

That's very helpful to know that you are using Outlook 2007. I do not belive this is an Outlook problem, and that supports my belief. It's hard to believe that both Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 have an issue that suddenly causing problems for so many people. I have another test in mind the next time it happens to me that will conclusively show it is not an Outlook problem.

On reading this yesterday, someone mentioned it suddenly started to work having the same time our outlook started to fail. I went home and tried again but no goal. I called ATT last evening and report this. Instead of guilding, she answered flat out, ATT does not support outlook. And insisted ATT server is running 'fine'. It's not like last week that they tried to assist first and direct me to their 'pay' service. There must be something or trick we can do to make outlook works.

I don't know what the trick is. On one of my calls I spoke with a supervisor, and he made an inquiry over to yahoo's support center. Yahoo suggested that the problem could be resolved making sure you have the very latest updates to Outlook 2010. I checked and I had the latest. I have tried fiddling with Outlook settings, tried different port numbers, different security settings, etc. but no luck. Each time it magically just starts working again hours later. Very frustrating. I am a software consultant, so I know a few things about Outlook, email, etc. I would prefer to keep AT&T for my DSL, email, etc. so I am trying to help get this resolved, but AT&T insistence that it is an Outlook problem isn't helping.

Same here.... the reason I am staying with ATT is not because of their 'excellent' service or anything positive you can imagine but to keep my personal email address.... I had this email address since 1998......
ATT, don't make me angry.... You don't like me when I'm angry....... GGGGGRRRRRRRR......... If I give up on you, I will move my DSL and the phone service to Comcast...... What the heck? YOU will only lose $80/month when your profits is still in the BILLIONS...........

Several things support my belief it is not an Outlook problem. I had my tech set up another e-mail client on my computer last night to prove to me and it also would not send or receive mail. Also my tech told me he has had calls from many of his clients with this same problem. I have all of the latest updates for Outlook 2007. My phone call today to ATT about it was trying to tell them it is a server issue. I asked to speak to a manager or someone higher and they sent me to Tech 2 support. I had both Tech 1 and Tech 2 .open this forum and read the messages. They still just read from their "cheat sheet" tha tsaid they don't support "client e-mail" if webmail is working. On another Forum someone reported that when they called ATT and talked to a Sr. technician he admitted that they were having major problems between Yahoo and ATT and it was close to shut down status. Another person wrote that ATT business has grown and they are not able to handle the server problems. I hate the "work around" of having to go into Yahoo and sign out - then sign back in - before Outlook will work. This is happening on my laptop and my desktop with Outlook - not just one of them. It is like my e-mail address can not be authenticated. I will be calling again and each time I call will make the tech go to this Forum and read these posts. That is the easiest way for me to tell them my problem as all that I have read is exactly what I've gone through.

Did you have any luck contacting Customer Service? I'm getting really tired of this problem. It has been mentioned that the way to make Outlook work is to go into Yahoo and log out and then back in. I discovered tonight that it doesn't work if you log into Yahoo through ATT. You have to log in directly into Yahoo mail. If you go to Yahoo mail through ATT it will not work. You have to go to www.yahoo.com and not www.att.yahoo.com.

Tx_Traveler - did you try your test to prove that it is not an Outlook problem? I made another discovery. The "work around" of going to Yahoo and logging out and logging back in works with www.yahoo.com. It does not work if you log in with Yahoo by going through the ATT site. Not sure what that tells me.
Ford8725..... Your method works...
But may have to repeat doing again when the issue comes back. It's a workaround, not the greatest but at least I can download my emails(Past 2 weeks) to my outlook.

Knock on wood - We haven't had any trouble accessing AT&T email since I posted that email. I need to have the problem again to do my test.

Bad luck this afternoon. ATT must have been reading this forum and found out we were able to get Outlook to work by logging out and back into Yahoo mail because this afternoon that workaround is no longer working for me. When this happens it not only involves your e-mail client (Outlook) but it also keeps you from accessing your mail in an Iphone or an Ipad. That also tells me it's not an Outlook problem. Now I'm not sure what to do. Perhaps the person that said to call Customer Service has a very good idea. Tech support is only going to read from their script "We Do Not Support Client E-mail". My perspective now is that they are just trying to drum up business for ConnectTech so we will have to pay them to fix something that is on their end and they should be fixing anyway. If this is a Yahoo problem then ATT still needs to be taking care of it or getting rid of Yahoo. I was asked to fill out a survey the last time I posted something in this Forum and couldn't wait to give ATT a big fat "0" for whether I would recommend them to anyone.

I am having the same issues and called AT &T because I could receive but not send using Outlook 2003. I continually received the message saying the connection to the server was interrupted (0x800ccof). I just bought a new computer and tried setting up Outlook 2010 and am having the same issues. I finally called support and was transferred to someone who wanted to charge me $15 a month for unlimited support or a one time fee of $49 to look at my settings. They claim it is an outlook issue and since it is a 3rd party software do not support it for free. I hung up and am using webmail until I can figure something else out--new internet provider may be the only answer. I am really disappointed in AT & T.

All of the threads, same for me...it's ATT, not users, although ATT keeps pointing to Outlook and trying to sell the tech support...conspiracy to drive revenue perhaps... ...fyi, not getting on ipad either to my primary att email...get this, the sub account works on outlook and all other devices...so this is an ATT email server/client issue...darn frustrating.

I have had the problems now on and off for over 3 weeks. Different email address on different days. So it's not an outlook problem. It's an AT&T server/s issue. So it isn't just us few there has to be more of us out there. AT&T doesn't seem to care about the internet side. And I think you are correct that they are trying to scam us into paying for support. But no where on their site does it say that they don not support 3 rd. party email clients!!! Maybe the FTC needs to be made aware. So, enough is enough. I have decided to start looking at COMCAST. Alleast they support Outlook.
