How do I stop scammer from sending emails from my contact list? The same scammer has sent emails twice this week from my email address.
I have AT&T DSL & Norton IS 2012. Shouldn't that prevent this type of scam from my account?
Thanks for any quidance.

I have the same problem. I am hoping I can find the solution here in the Forum!

I am having the same problem. Spam is getting sent to lots of my contacts, including my son's teachers. I also have found that unknown contacts have been added. My anti-virus was renewed only two months ago. I don't know how to fix this problem. I believe it started when I opened the same kind of email that was sent from one of my contacts.

I don't know if McAfee has a setting to monitor emails, but you might check for that.
If you open a scammer email, not much can be done if you click on a link or reply to it.
Personally, I like MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials); it's free, it runs fast and doesn't clog your computer, and it works. http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.
If you use Web-based mail (G-mail, Yahoo, Hotmail), make sure your settings are for https only. Do not use unsecured Wi-Fi to type in passwords for email.
This is a headache of modern life. All I can suggest is to move all of your contacts to another (or new) email address, and start using that new/other email.
edit--forgot to add--IF you can still access your email, change the password immediately
And download the FREE version of MalwareBytes; run a scan on your computer:
