I cannot find out how either, after going from call queue to call queue, then being sent by reps to two different places, then transferred to a number that said the office was closed, I NEED HELP NOW! My email account was invaded by a worm or virus that is sending out spam to my contact list. HOW do I change the password for my EMAIL account. I followed those exact same steps and it only changes my Account access to my bill for my home phone and my dsl account. Has not a thing to do with my email password.
HELP!! I have contacts in here for a non profit I do volunteer work for, and don't have the option to change my email address right now. my email is an ameritech.net email address

My understanding is that when we set up UVERSE contact email - it merged it.
For instance, my contact email is my YAHOO acct. SBCGLOBAS was some OLD acct from years ago.
I too cannot change my YAHOO password. After 3 hours on phone and chat with customer support, no resolution. However, I was able to eliminate that phishing scam...
Hi! I posted on here the other day. I have had the same problem - YAHOO account hacked, sending emal to everyone who ever sent me an email. Absolutely NO HELP from ATT after 3 different chats with "customer support" and numerous phone calls. SO....finally, a friend of mine emails me and tells me to add a bogus email address into my contacts - one that will be at the BEGINNING of your contact list such as 0@hotmai.com or what ever. I did this and so far (for last 24 hours) no bogus messages sent out.
As for my YAHOO password - somehow it is merged with SBCGLOBAL OLD, OLD, OLD account. I did not merge, I did not ASK to have merged. But ATT can't seem to help. They need to quit "merging" accounts when we didn't request it. Good luck to all that are having same issue!
UPDATE - AFTER 3 DAYS, THE BOGUS ACCT IS STILL WORKING TO BLOCK THIS.

HELP HELP HELP HELP
I cannot access my email account. j*****@ sbcglobal which I had for about 10 years. I did not change my password and unfortunately I no longer use ATT for home and DSL so ATT could not find my account in thier system. I didn't have a secondary email account listed when I set my account up. I also do not remember the answers to my questions because I set up the account so long ago. Please HELP ! I am a physican and many of my contacts are my clients, and etc. I can be reached at my alternate email address at d*****@gmail.com. I have called ATT several times and no one has access to my account.
Thank you
Dr. James

If you still need help with this you might try calling
800-331-0500 That seems to be a number specific to sbcglobal.net
I've also seen but I have no idea if these contacts still work:
A. If you need help upgrading your account or have further technical questions, please contact us at http://support.sbcglobal.net or call our 24/7 customer care at 1 877 SBC DSL5.

I don't know whether this will help, because I'm new to these forums, and don't know whether posters are notified when someone posts a reply, but:
You don't have a worm or a virus.
Some kind of 'spoofing' scheme has been affecting many of us who use Yahoo mail, and has hacked into our Address Books for more than a year.
It started (for me, at least) when my stepsister's husband started spamming me (he was unaware of it, too).
Now I'm hearing that my account is doing it.
At least it's fairly harmless: it just sends a link to some stupid Canadian on-line pharmacy, but it does spread from one computer to another.
Yahoo is aware of it, and is supposedly working on it, but I don't know how soon (or if) they'll be able to stop it. Especially considering how many of you are still reporting it "many moons" later.
Changing my e-mail password worked for me, but I didn't run into the problems that many of you have had - because I fixed this over a year ago.
Best of luck, and best wishes,
