Hi... I just had U-Verse installed yesterday in Southwestern Connecticut (Fairfield County). I am wondering about the 4 HD/0 SD profile? Have all areas upgraded to that version b/c the settings on my STB still say 3/1? I would think that new installs such as mine would already have the latest upgraded software.
Also, any more news on the 5.1 audio cutting out issues? I am currently experiencing the same thing, but only on a few HD channels... TNT HD, ESPN HD, and ESPN U HD. My local channels seem to be okay... no audio cutting out. When I switch to regular stereo sound, those "problem" channels play fine. My STB is connected via HDMI to my receiver, which is then connected via HDMI to my TV.
Thanks for your help!

Your video profile is based on what can be handled by your line profile (32/5, 25/2 or 19/2). Please download and install SomeJoe's tool at the link below.
http://www.uverserealtime.com/
Once you install the tool, please post screenshots of the following tabs: IP/Profile, Error Table, Bitloading, & Coax/HPNA.
We can take a look at the screenshots to see if it appears that your system could handle a higher profile.

Hi! Thanks for the quick response! I don't believe that program will work on my computer as I have a Mac, and I don't have any PC-emulation software for my Mac. Any other suggestions? Is that info. I can pull from settings screens of my STB? Thanks again for your help!

As a side note to this, I just notice that for some reason my profile was changed from the 4hd/0sd to th 1hd/3sd profile unbeknownest to me. I found this very strange since I've had the service since 12/2007 and had at least 2hd soon after. A call to CS got it changed back but who/why was it changed in the first place. Something sounds fishy at ATT with CAPs coming into play. I wonder if they monitior use and if 2hd were not in use very much (which it's not in my household) they are taking it upon themselves to change profiles without customers noticing. This would cut down on the compression if true. I'm on the 32/5 sync.

The same video signal is used regardless of the profile. Therefore, the compression is the same for 32/5, 25/2 or 19/2 line profiles.

I would suggest that you call Technical Support and see if your line profile can be upgraded and if you can then be placed on the 4 HD video profile.

Thanks for your help... does the 4HD profile reduce the 5.1 cutting out audio problem at all? I only have 2 tv's total, so do I need to upgrade to 4HD?

The 4 HD profile has not impact on the 5.1 audio drop issue.
With the new profile, 4 live HD channels can be watched at the same time. Also, 3 HD programs can be recorded at the same time. When 3 HD programs are recorded at the same time, a 4th live HD channel can be watched on a TV connected to a non-DVR STB.

I did a search and found very old reference to this problem from 2008.
On certain, but not all channels, the sound in HD mode will go gradually out of synch.... how is this fixed.
I just purchased and installed a new Vizio 47" hdtv it seemed to work fine for a couple days... then bad audio on several channels. Audio is behind the video by up to 2 seconds... very annoying.!
Thanks for any help in advance.
Pat.

That happens to a lot of people here. I have fixed it a couple times by a hard reboot on everything. Other times it is the channels fault not ATT and you cannt fix it. You just have to wait or call CS....

Hate to ask because I'm afraid it's allready been answered but after reading through the first five pages and last five pages of the thread I feel like I've put in a decent effort.
WAN Profile: 0 SD / 4 HD; Max Bandwidth: 3194200
Ingress Profile: 1 SD / 3 HD; Max Bandwidth: 269060400
Egress Profile:...
Can someone explain what the difference between WAN, Ingress and Egress is?
And thank you again to all the helpful posters. Just reading through this thread I've had a half dozen otehr questions answered ![]()

Nevermind! Thank you Google ![]()
"
The WAN Profile represents streams into the RG. With your profile, 4 different channels can be watched live. Up to 4 of those channels can be HD channels.
The Ingress Profile represents streams into the DVR. With your profile, 4 channels can be recorded at the same time. Up to 3 of those channels can be HD channels. Also, if 3 HD channels are being recorded at the same time, you can watch a 4th HD channel on a TV connected to a non-DVR STB.
The Egress Profile represents streams out of the DVR. With your profile, 3 programs previously recorded on the DVR can be watched on TV's connected to non-DVR STB's. Up to 2 of those recorded programs can be in HD."
