Is AMC ever gonna come to the Tulsa area? I have called and talked to Customer Service a couple of times regarding this and they don't know anything. They are not very helpful at all. I'm sure that when and if they do add AMC they will put it on a NEW HD packages and charge more for it. Just like some of the other channels that we used to get for free. Then they changed it without warning. Wasn't very happy about that!!!!!!!
After all the head aches that we have had with our U-verse, Cox Cable is looking really good right now.

I am talking about American Movie Classics. I have searched my channel list for my area and it doesn't have it listed.
Per my Channel Line Up, in Kansas City Area, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is Channel 790, Fox Movie Channel is 792, Hallmark Movie Channel is 794, American Movie Classics (AMC) is 795, Independent Film Channel (IFC) is 797, and Sundance Movie Channel is 798. I believe the channel line up is the same nationwide for the non-local stations (Channel 1 thru 100).
I hope this helps. ![]()

Unluckily AMC is one of the few channels that are not in everybody's lineup. Cablevision, AMCs owner, is not allowing it in certain markets (for what reason?), so you are not receiving AMC, CS can't really help as the aforementioned are acting irrationally, no rhyme or reason. ATT is aware it's not there, but Cablevision is just not changing their minds, sorry. ![]()

We got the channel when we had Cox Cable. So is this an issue with ATT? I would have thought that the Customer Service Rep would have know some information on this. We have had our prolems in the past with the rep being completly clueless on things.
I found AMC in my area, if only I was subscribed to one of them:
- COX COMMUNICATIONS - channel 174
- DISH NETWORK/ECHOSTAR - channel 128
- DIRECTV - channel 260

Sometimes info like that doesn't flow down to the CS reps, I knew about it from older posts when there were problems w/other Cablevision channels that weren't in certain markets, but the holdout is AMC. Since it is on cable in your market, that's why I posted it was irrational that it wasn't on Uverse too. ![]()

That is the thing about those "Cable Companies," they tend to stick together, when they are not in the same markets. Cablevision isn't in Tulsa, Cox is, so they will let Cox have their channel, but not AT&T since we are an alternative to the dominant cable company in the Tulsa. I guess since in KC area we are lucky, we have AMC, even though the two cable companies are, conglomo at it's finest, Comcast on 1 side of town, and Time-Warner on the other.
Sorry Carri

That totally Blows!!!!! I knew there was a reason that I HATED all those cable companies. So there is nothing we can do? There has to be something. I can't be the only U-verse customer in Tulsa that is upset about this!!! I would hate to have to move out of state just to watch Mad Men. =) But I might!!!!!!!

We've been lucky to have AMC in Houston...but I thought Rainbow Media owned them (or are they and Cablevision in cahoots)?
Way I understand it, there has to be a statewide franchise agreement in place (Rainbow's terms). OK would have to petition their govt. to pass it; then ATT has to fight with Rainbow to make an amendment/allow to carry.
From what I've read, Rainbow is not a very nice company to work with?
It's out of ATT's hands at this point. ![]()

And I thought I had a problem when I found I couldn't get AMC in HD with U-Verse....
We're getting it fine in Chicago, but -- again -- no HD.
Why doesn't AT+T address these problems head on instead of us all just blowing off steam??

Everything isn't solely under the control of ATT, unfortunately. I recommend not blowing off steam, that could get to be very stressful.

So, if I understand the discussion correctly, since Cox carries AMC in the OKC area, Uverse probably won't be able to make it available unless Cox were to dissolve in a cloud of blue smoke. Is that about he gist of it?
If you have a coax cable that is long enough you can run it to my house and I will let you connect to one of my stbs. Then when you want to watch AMC I'll change to that channel. ![]()
j/k, it is a drag that everyone can't get all of the channels that UV carries because of where they live. Or the existing service providers in a specific area. I guess Comcast, Dish, and DTV don't have the same restrictions or rights to AMC that Cox does ![]()

It is my understanding from talking with the powers that be is that everyone will eventually have the channel as well as AMC on demand.
It is a long drawn out and complicated process which the Attorneys for both sides are working on now.
There was no time period given Just work in progress

AMC was on U-Verse in Tulsa a year ago. Great programming.
Dissapointed in AT&T for poor communication about the discontinuation of the channel.
Figure it out AT&T, give us back this great channel!!

Please search AMC, WE, fuse or IFC.. or Rainbow Media on these blogs and you will see it's not AT&T's fault.
And BTW, AMC has never been in Tulsa or any other city in Oklahoma. Rainbow Media requires a statewide franchise agreement in place before they will negotiate with AT&T .. OK doesn't have one, nor does Arkansas nor several other states..

It's 7/25/10, and AMC appears to be on channel 795.
Looks like a positive sideeffect of the agreement with Cablevision/Rainbow

It has also finally shown up in Oklahoma City on 795. I don't recall receiving any notice of this like when one channel disappeared so the Soccer channel could appear. I'm glad it's here. Wish I new it was coming before I spent the money for a Mad Men season pass on ITunes! Such is life. ....
